I wanted to add, since I haven't seen anyone else mention it, I also hate AI and refuse to use it because it is the focal point of the biggest stock market bubble, pump-and-dump scam, that we have ever seen. When it pops, it will dwarf the housing market crash of 2007ish. It is so blatantly obvious to so many of us and we are powerless to stop it beyond boycotting and repeatedly voicing the flaws, failures and misinformation rampantly circulating the LLM technology. I hate "AI" for all the reasons everyone else has stated, but I also hate it for what the AI bubble will inevitably do to the worldwide economy and anyone who doesn't have a million dollar safety net.

I also hate "AI" because a LLM is not AI at all. Not in the sense of a general artificial intelligence. AI was a label applied to LLMs by marketing douchebags to hype their bullshit machine. But this is false. LLMs are not AI, they are not intelligent. But LLMs present the illusion of intelligence and that is enough to keep the game of musical chairs going, for now.

Not OC but I agree with him. Where I live, the toll roads are owned by private corporations, some of them entirely foreign owned corporations, and the rates are obscenely high. It isn't about maintaining the road; instead it is about rent seeking behavior and maximizing shareholder profits. That is abhorrent to me. Public goods should be owned by the public.

I keep a variety of chile pepper plants indoors over winter and deal with this constantly. Here's what I've learned about aphids. They will kill your plant if you aren't vigilant about them. A neem oil spray can help but won't solve the problem entirely. Some formulations of neem oil are harder on the plants than others so test your solution every time you get a new bottle. If you have a handheld shower wand, it is worthwhile to put your plants in the shower about once a month and blast off the little buggers. And regularly fertilizing your plants will keep them strong enough to resist the attack. The best method I have seen, is to use water from a fish tank to water the plants. Good luck!

I've tried a lot of methods. I haven't eliminated them but they are no longer a nuisance.

Hydrogen peroxide 1:4 in water will kill the larvae in the soil. Unfortunately, it also kills some plants like parsley, thyme, oregano.

I add some pea gravel, sand, other grit to the surface of the soil when I bring my plants indoors. That seems to help deter them.

I see the most results with sticky yellow paper traps you can get off Amazon. They're cheap, effective and one sheet will last about 4ish months. Helps keep the numbers of adults down.
