Art of the deal

Yes. That Somali AK is undoubtedly full auto and the gobermint won't let me buy one commercially because apparently we live in soviet russia... which is where AKs come from.

Don't hassle me about this.

A meme

I swear to god everyone needs to have their phone taken away all at once, for a month. Especially the left. We need to learn how to stop having stupid fucking arguments.

Why choice of Linux distribution matters

Agreed. I distro-hopped for months before settling on Void. It took a while for me to figure out (with help from the internet) that systemd was causing a lot of the problems I was having. It's been smooth sailing since I found Void and I've never been happier with an OS.

It really isn't difficult to install or use, and I think experienced users would probably appreciate it as much as I do. It does what you tell it to, out of the box. Nothing more, nothing less.

Meta Is Dying. It’s About Time.

Is "dying" the right word? They're struggling, but I won't be surprised if this administration or the next bails Meta out, since fb and insta are essentially public services for a lot of people, as much as I hate that. The smart thing for the fed government to do is to nationalize Meta's platforms.

Anon makes sacrifices for the family

If I had to guess, it's probably because for a lot of people being a NEET is depressing state of being. No direction or control over your life and you're at the whims of whatever happens to your family, economically. People with nothing to look forward to tend to wig out over petty shit like one less tendie.

Stop telling me AI is the future [Still Vreni]

None of those things were new technology. The assembly line didn't go away when people were angry about being laid off.

If you're talking about a specific product of AI ("art" for example), you might want to make that clearer. If you're talking about AI in general, you're treating this one thing like it's a reason to try turning back the clock.

The rational thing to do would be getting politically involved to get AI out of corporate ownership.

"If you can't afford to tip 40%, then don't eat out"

A lot of people in the comments are remarking on the tip culture in America. Friendly reminder that it's not the culture that necessitates tipping here. We have a tipping economy when it comes to a lot of service work. $2.13 is the minimum wage for servers in the states. This is less than what could rightfully be called a starvation wage, so tipping is a social necessity. You might think that's crazy and we should change it, and you would be correct.
