I miss these guys

One of my favorites was when they were testing something about poison ivy.

They assumed that they could just rub it on themselves, but eventually they had to test every member of the cast and crew, and they only found one person who actually had a reaction to poison ivy!

This is the perfume area of a department store, which were often located near one of the major entrances.

Walking through it is usually a bombardment of different smells, and it can be a lot.

The joke is that you have to go through the horrible perfume tunnel to get to where you want to go inside the store (or the mall, if connected). It can be especially bad around the winter holidays and when it’s cold out, which is why everyone has long sleeves in the photo.

A lot of places you could go around, it was just a longer walk.

Anthony Mackie's "Desert Warrior" has been pulled from theaters after making only $695,564 — the film had a budget of $150 million

The movie was bankrolled by Saudi Arabia to set up infrastructure for the entire filmmaking industry there. That’s why it was so expensive.

Also, a large chunk of the $150 million budget was literally putting infrastructure in place to manage a production of this size. "On-set insiders say Saudi production hub Neom Media was effectively laying the infrastructure for an entire industry on the budget of 'Desert Warrior,'" the report noted.

Advice for new bands

I laughed out loud when I finally realized what band was saying this.

Humorously, the lead singer is named Jim (Adkins), but the band’s name comes from the backing vocalist/guitarist Tom’s brother, also named Jim.

The band's name came from a crayon drawing made after an incident between [Tom] Linton's younger brothers, Jim and Ed Linton, who fought frequently. Jim usually won, but Ed sought revenge by drawing a picture of Jim shoving the Earth into his mouth; Ed captioned the picture "Jimmy eat world".

Working on products people hate

If I were a better developer, would I have worked on more products people love? No

There you go, justify your shitty work.

If you were a better person, you would work on better products.

You choose where you work and what you work on. The fact that you went from Zendesk working on a shitty product to Microsoft working on a shitty product is definitely about you.

In fact, a reliable engineer ought to be comfortable working on products people hate, because engineers work for the company, not for users.

“It’s ok that I work at shitty companies! They pay me more”

The U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team won gold — and then lost the room

To me, this was always going to happen.

Who could root for a national team that features the Tkachuk brothers? They’ve been awful for years. They’re the type of players that unapologetically ruin hockey.

It’s nice that others are catching up though!

For the record, the U.S. isn’t the only one. Brad Marchand is disgusting and proudly Canadian.

Hockey has had an asshole problem for a long time.

Microsoft made Copilot a co-author on every VS Code project, reverted after developers revolted

Reply in thread

Yep, people were reporting that it was marking code they wrote by hand as “Coauthored by Copilot.”

There are some comments on the original pull request, such as:

ringoz commented last week
I am not using copilot, I have "chat.disableAIFeatures" and co-authored by copilot still gets inserted into commits.

I also thought that this was interesting, from the above article:

Earlier this week, Vasyura shared an update on the "co-authored by Copilot" issue. The Microsoft engineer said the forced co-authorship resulted from a bug in the code that Redmond employees did not encounter in their testing environment. The default AI attribution was eventually disabled, but is now returning in a different – hopefully less disruptive – form.

Pixar’s Pete Docter Says Queer ‘Elio’ Storyline Was Axed Because “We’re Making A Movie, Not Hundreds Of Millions Of Dollars Of Therapy”

Reply in thread

No you’re actually spot on. Douche bag was even talking to a conservative paper.

Docter told the Wall Street Journal bluntly of the reasoning behind the creative overhaul, in which the Walt Disney Studios subsidiary found that some parents didn’t want media to broach topics they weren’t ready to discuss with their children

It’s really not hard to discuss someone being gay with your kids… unless you’re a bigot.
