Why did you have trouble understanding the lyrics of the song? They pronounce all the words clearly.

God I love that song. I know nothing about the band, havenโ€™t listened to their other stuff, but every time that song comes on the volume goes up, I start singing and tear up a little..

How about a live album of a concert in NYC that featured the twin towers on fire that was released on 9/11

I found the album a few weeks later in stores, even after they pulled it. Solid.

Man, I can't imagine their reaction.

Before release: "Man, thisnalbum cover is sick dude, what a statement"

Then release day: "Oh yeah, big day.... oh yeaj, city on fire man! Wait what? What do you mean actually burning?"

Oof I'm a big Dream Theater fan and never knew that. Poor timing for sure.

Bit hard to pull that one off. Unless 9/11 were an inside job and the White House was informing the music industry.

16

Real shit: thereโ€™s a conspiracy theory Milo Rossi debunked about the supertramp album breakfast in america predicting 9/11

2

Such a fucking good song/album though. Iโ€™ll never forget the first time I heard it.

I laughed out loud when I finally realized what band was saying this.

Humorously, the lead singer is named Jim (Adkins), but the bandโ€™s name comes from the backing vocalist/guitarist Tomโ€™s brother, also named Jim.

The band's name came from a crayon drawing made after an incident between [Tom] Linton's younger brothers, Jim and Ed Linton, who fought frequently. Jim usually won, but Ed sought revenge by drawing a picture of Jim shoving the Earth into his mouth; Ed captioned the picture "Jimmy eat world".

You gotta get yourself one of these shirts

Its a parady of the Northern Territories advertising campaign that blew way up and has outlasted the government's efforts

From an official account too. I fear people are not caring about how effectively they communicate anymore.

not caring about how effectively they communicate

But not only did you understand what they meant, it got an extra 3 (4 including this one) comments on this post. Seems pretty effective to me.

Engagement bait isn't effective communicating, it's a large component of what's wrong with the world right now. Instead of sharing actual knowledge or being more careful with our words, there's an incentive to get it wrong on purpose because that's what the algorithm rewards. Let's all be better.

I'm sure it was just autocorrect anyway. It's just a ridiculous thing to get worked up about, thinking communication is getting worse, kids these days, etc

It is certainly deteriorating, and effective communication is never a ridiculous thing to make a point of.

Do you have evidence that orthographic errors are signs of human communication "deteriorating", or is it just vibes?

Haven't they since changed their name and apologized? I stopped listening to them after that

They changed their name to "AJJ" instead of the full previous name. Basically saying Andrew Jackson was a piece of shit and everyone already called them AJJ anyway. That was a loooong time ago now, like maybe a decade.

4

Yeah I know it was a while ago and that's when I stopped listening to them lol. I can't say I wouldn't have even if they hadn't changed that name though. I think I used that as an excuse to cover up the fact that I just wasn't vibing with them anymore.

Good point, I did not look very closely. I wonder if they're still active there though, a crazy number of people and institutions are.

4

I assume that most institutions that are still active are only active to promote themselves, and mirroring the same content from instagram to X, and not actually engaging with the fans like in the early days of Twitter.

It's still a bar run by a Nazi, i.e. a Nazi bar, even if many of the customers are ignorant.

A lot of these are more than general public, they're institutions, corporations, organizations, and people who should (and probably do) know better.

where the people are

They went from 429 million to 250 million in under a year, I would challenge that assumption.

Additionally, a Nazi bar is still a fucking Nazi bar. I don't see why anyone should look favorably on that, do you?
