Mamdani-backed candidates sweep New York City Democratic primaries

Reply in thread

The first person on the panel, wearing two monocols and a rainbow progress lapel pin, "well you see, obviously we all want universal healthcare, but the reality is, we just cant afford it" as they say this, they sign another pledge to send billions of bombs to lebanon via isreal and just after an intern crawls in and delivers a bar of gold right in front of everyone as the camera pans to the next democrat who then rags about how progressives are just self defeating losers while he unawarely stands on the neck of a protestor and vocally wonders why they always complain so much as he twists his heel into the protesters larynx, the third democrat on the panel has fallen asleep - once a civil rights champion in the 1830's, their age has crept up on them, but their district still seems to keep voting their coffin in regardless

This exciting UFO was clearly filmed over New Mexico, looking like a rescue mission.

I was able to get it to play, but, the ship and video itself are unconvincing

I just dont understand why they would program in a little light show, it dosent seem functional and instead just makes me think of a guy in cluttered garage going "well, itll look cool" as they flash an arduino to cycle through leds for a fun hobby project

Maybe im cynical, but i find it hard to beleive aliens would go through all the trouble of getting here and add that kind of flair - and if the aliens really wanted to be noticed surely they could just hover and do tricks over a populated city - or idk - use their advanced technology and civilization to say hello, drop a leaflet, or just land in central park and shake our hand - if the stories are to be beleived and theyve been around forever, surely by now theyd know who we are and how to make an introduction at this point

So, either these are the most capable but socially inept aliens ever, or its a more mundane human made hobby - or who knows, maybe putting on a 70s light show was their whole goal and thats all they have to say which would probably be even more dissapointing than the hobbiest in his garage

Thank you Picard Maneuver!

YSK: The Invention Secrecy Act is a US federal law authorizing the government to suppress disclosure of certain inventions for reasons of national security. 6,543 inventions are currently suppressed.

secrecy orders have been imposed not only on inventions affecting military defense but also on those alleged to threaten economic stability, with critics noting that many such restrictions rest on speculative or unproven harms.

But also

The law applies broadly to all inventions in the United States for which a patent is filed or granted (35 U.S.C. § 181).

So if you really do have a society changing invention - one that could upset this capitalist or neoliberal world order - it is your duty to publically release it and not patent it

PiVPN Releases Final Version and Announces Project Shutdown

I will maintain ownership of the repository, but I won't pass it down to anyone else. First, because I feel it's not up to me to decide who to pass the project down to, and second, because there is no one else to pass the project to.

"But I want and can maintain it, can I take it over?" Let me put it plain and simple: No! I don't know you, I don't trust you! Fork it and carry on!

The Internet Archive has been fending off DDoS attacks for days

Reply in thread

Or, it's because whoever is doing this hates freedom of information and historical evidence. There's a long list of powerful people and governments who have the resources and will to carry out these attacks.

Cyber warfare is real, and the Internet archive is a museum and library of culture and truth. It provides evidence and context to our past.

As in conventional war, it is valuable to the amoral to destroy culture and truth in order to control it. Many would like to kill that to supplant it with their version of events that can't be refuted with evidence.
