Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is finally launching on October 21, and yes you'll technically be able to play as a Malkavian vampire
Too many red flags, I can't see this being good. Would love to be proven wrong though.

Most slopcode projects are abandoned and deleted within months of release
Reply in thread
That is so accurate. I have a couple of LLM-coded applications running, either because a solution wasn't available, or existing solutions were beyond the scope of what I need, and would idle at up to 1 GB of RAM instead of 10 MB. In situations like these, being able to get a quick solution thrown together is such a boon.

Is Denuvo's Dominance Finally Beginning to Crack? A New Linux-Based Breakthrough Suggests It Might Be
Reply in thread
It's very difficult to prove either way. There's also the factor of making a big deal of removing Denuvo post release; if sales were lost due to its inclusion, does it fully recoup those? Does it actually result in more total sales?
Whether it actually causes measurably more sales, my thoughts are that if paying customers are treated worse than pirates, then piracy is justified, so including Denuvo inherently justifies pirating the game to me.

Hands-On: Borderlands 4 wants you to forget Borderlands 3 ever happened
Reply in thread
1 wasn't quite polished enough for me, but 2 was a lot of fun. The writing for the other two was horrendous, but I played through 3 for the gameplay loop; I would just turn off audio for a while when they talked too much. The Telltale game is fine for what it is, but their games are all exposition hallways.
I'm not getting 4 until it's $60 or less - if then.

So Lemmy, what are your thoughts on Mixtape?
Seems to barely be a game, as well as having little substance beyond nostalgia bait. Not really my bag.

UK activist hits Valve with a $903 million lawsuit — claims Steam is abusing its market dominance and forcing UK consumers to pay too much for Steam games
Taking a 30 percent cut seems to be standard for the industry, and Valve provides above-standard services such as Workshop, matching, cloud sync, various community integrations. That aside, if they took a smaller cut, none of this would be passed on to the customer. In summary, whichever way the suit goes, I don't see a reason to care.

Why do new Silent Hill entries attract so much negativity?
Haven't seen any complaints about F, but the SH2 remake was made by a studio with a spotty record, they made some unnecessary changes, and it still has traversal stutter.

"Stop Killing Games" failed because it asked for the wrong thing
SKG did not ask for publishers to maintain servers in perpetuity, they asked for publishers to leave games in a playable state, and didn't require it to be done in any specific way whatsoever. You don't need to perpetuate anti-consumer talking points that have no basis in reality.

Jellyfin is great... As long as you're the only one who needs to access the server. I've switched to using Jellyfin myself, but I still run Plex for others to access.
I've found that I get a smoother playback experience on Jellyfin, but even outside of potential security issues, there are a still couple of features I miss from Plex.

Seems like IO has restricted progression in offline play, like they did with Hitman. That's really all I need, to know that I won't be playing this.

The storytelling in Nikke is legitimately interesting, and for what it's worth I've never had to spend money.

Diablo II: Resurrected - Infernal Edition is now available on Steam
I would definitely buy this. At half the price and without the Battle.net requirement.
