I love the approach some mods have been taking towards this - the "3DS hacks" subreddit mods turned off all the automod filters keeping people from mentioning piracy sites and told everyone they only need to follow site rules from now on.

The userbase has currently taken to posting 3D shacks.

Opera GX Rule

The only cool thing about Opera was how when you used Opera Mini on a phone with a physical keyboard you could move a cursor around the screen using the arrow keys

Where do you think Nintendo will take Zelda from here?

I think they need to find a way to merge the BOTW open world with the more traditional structure of Zelda games. The issue is that those two philosophies are sort of at odds with each other, with BOTW and TOTK not wanting the player to be locked out of anything while exploring the world while the traditional structure has you unlock items throughout the game in order to solve puzzles, which there are much fewer of outside of dungeons. It can work though, if Wind Waker is any indication with its side islands.

ANNOUNCEMENT: defederating effective immediately from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works

Reply in thread

I understand blocking an instance like lemmygrad where the target audience of the server itself is an issue, but blocking large general-purpose instances seems like it'll hurt the growth of the platform as a whole, which is critical at this point when people are moving away from Reddit. Luckily the post reads as if this is a temporary thing, but I almost wonder if the fediverse thing might not be for them if they want to close off their community to this extent.

I also don't know what this means for moderation of pre-existing Beehaw posts - is it just kicked off to the admins of the blocked instances?

Blizzard games are coming to Steam

Reply in thread

I wouldn't be surprised if this had something to do with the impending Microsoft buyout, seeing as they've been putting all their PC games on Steam for a while. That being said, I also wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft starts moving away from both Steam and Battle.net once the deal closes in favor of the Xbox launcher now that they have a ton of potential exclusives for it.

That was when they got rid of the "blob emoji" in favor of adopting the more standard round smiley faces in order to match Apple specifically. The reasoning was along the lines of wanting emoji to convey the same thing across platforms, which makes sense to an extent but I'm not sure why they felt a complete overhaul of the artstyle was necessary to achieve that goal.

Nintendo’s Switch successor is already in third-party devs’ hands, report claims

Reply in thread

As much as I know Nintendo would love to sell the same games again, I doubt they'd rather put in the time and effort to port the most popular games than put that effort towards being able to continue selling the Switch's pre-existing back catalog on the new system.

edit: However, I can definitely see them doing the PS5 thing and charging $10 to upgrade Switch 1 games to take advantage of the Switch 2.
