Came here due to that. Today I got hit by "verify your age", they want me to submit a selfie or an ID card. Hell no.

Yes, Brazil.
I've seen those age verification checks been thrown around over the last couple of months - BUT -most of them are going that self verification route like Steam does: "if you are not a minor you can't access this, but please go ahead and put a MM//DD//YY that shows us you are not a minor. Ok we believe you, you are all set, enjoy".

tell me about it... and the biggest problem is, like it or not, Reddit was my first choice for troubleshooting anything in my life.
So I have to get access again, I heard that by using VPN you can kinda bypass this age verification thing but, guess what, more information about this is on... Reddit! lol
I'll see if I can do it after my work day has ended

People who haven't gotten into habit of googling stuff in the last 20 years might not get into it at all anymore because of how search engines are gamed with SEO spam tactics nowadays

2 months ago that was fine.
Now I don't have an app for that, the website on my mobile doesn't open my search and instead tells me to download the official Reddit app, or the subs are nsfw or private.
Sigh, so much for easy answers at a type of the finger :(

I understand finding these things funny when you are a cool, level-headed person or not in a moment of fight or flee situation, but many of us fall prey to dumb reasoning in emotional situations.
Going slightly off-topic, but I'd wager many people have spent a lot of unnecessary money or gone to jail in the heat of the moment. And many of Sun Tzu's or Lao Tzi's (Tao) advice is like: "stop, breathe, and think it through mofo, stop being an impulsive idiot and paying a high price for it"

I agree. I think it's just good that with all this shitstorm, a lot of the good users migrated to the Lemmy.
We don't need 100% of the Reddit population here, if we just get like 10-20% we will have potential to become the long gone golden age of Reddit.

You're home alone, sitting down and relaxing with your favorite consumable item, be it drink, drugs, food, what have you. What are you having, and what do you put on the stereo to accompany your eveni
KEXP radio, lemongrass kombucha and BBQ'ed coalho cheese (kind of like cheese curds... but different, it's a Brazilian thing).
The radio I found out about it today, despite playing a plethora of different styles, I'm quite impressed how the curation is of excellent quality.

Thats insane.
Here in Brazil I pay around 65-70 dollars per month and then I have full hospitalization coverage and full doctors appointment coverage.
And there are better options lol

Leak confirms GrapheneOS & Motorola partnership for non-Pixel hardware
Reply in thread
It runs fine on my Pixel 7a, I have an account with 2 Brazilian banks and they all work well.
Some apps just don't work though, but they are far and between, an example is Brazil's gov.br, which is a website that is used for ID confirmation on everything that pertains to the government (tax revenue, your own business details,etc.). But then an old phone does that job for me at home.
Speaking of Brazil, it is worth mentioning that Google Pixels are not officially sold here. The ones I did obtain I bought on a "Brazilian eBay" and there is no e-SIM support for it nor any warranty services. I had to do the battery replacement myself despite knowing that Google was offering to fix faulty Pixel 7a's on NA/India/Europe/etc. I am only bringing this up because, coincidentally, 50% of Motorola's smartphone sales are on LATAM. It's a pretty smart move they are making if you ask me, they are aware they could explore this huge market it seems.

US demands access to tourists' social media histories

I still remember a trip I took with my parents to Vancouver and Seattle. We are from Brazil.
The difference was night and day, especially the infrastructure, landscape, and the appearance of the people who worked there. Seattle felt much more somber and gray.
The only ones who seemed overtly happy were the waitresses, but since these jobs in the U.S. rely heavily on tips, it felt more like forced role-play to get extra money compared to the more down-to-earth Canadian customer service.

MOFO is recording a reality show 24/7. Everything he does seems one of those cringy episodes from E! or MTV shows from the 2000-2010s.
If I'm not mistaken, the first time he met with Zelensky he was caught saying "this will make good television" or something like that. Now, what is the exact goal with this? I don't know... Seems conservative low IQ people like to consume their politics as entertainment programs and that keeps them hooked?

Spez (Reddit CEO) just put out an announcement talking about how they'll verify bots vs humans. Get ready for a wave of new users into the Fediverse pretty soon!
Jesus this Reddit post reeks of bootlickers. The comments sound sooooo artificial, hard to say if bootlickers or ironically bots programmed to praise and upvote this shitstorm.

Makes sense. People think they are the center of the universe when companies only see you as an additional cog in the machine. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad by this. I'll choose the positive side of things today.

tá foda a experiência no reddit

Stupid question, wasn't that a risky move? I mean, the way I was raised to think by my parents I can hear their voices in the back of my head if I went through a situation like this, similar to this:
"But aren't you worried they might hire you then fire you just out of spite for switching companies? And then what are you gonna do?"
