[T]elling the astronauts how much they deserved the honor of the president seeking their autographs.
This was what I was thinking when listening to the call. Everyone is celebrating the courage of these astronauts, but unsurprisingly Trump rather praises himself..
Ps. I like to believe that the silence near the end of the call wasn't a technical issue.

Which smartphone has the best balance between all these?
The 'Fair' in Fairphone relates to their practice to produce the phone as fairtrade as they can. Mind, it is not perfect and I believe they don't state that it is fully fairtrade either. This often gets confused that it is fair of them to make it repairable.

Ownership of open source flashcard app Anki transferred to for-profit AnkiHub
Time will tell. The words of AnkiHub are quite comforting, as it seems they are a small organisation focused on med students. It also seems they were surprised themselves with the offer they received when asking for collaboration.
They also say they will keep it open source 🤞

‘Irresponsible failure’: Google, Meta, Snap and Microsoft slam EU over child sexual abuse law lapse
I found this article interesting because big tech seems to care so much about scanning, that they are pushing on this.
Unfortunately the article doesn't really delve into the privacy precedents and implications it would set, and mostly voices the arguments of big tech.

Meloni brands violent Olympic protesters ‘enemies of Italy’

It annoys me when people say she is not as populist as feared, based on that she is supporting Ukraine and not anti-EU, while in Italy she is pushing hard against migrants, asylum seekers, and the LGBTQ+community.

And they all go quite when Apple politely obliges to whatever China demands from them. That site is the definition of toxic-fanboyism. So many commenters their blindly believe every declaration Apple makes.

Note that they agreed on this almost a decade ago1. Whether or not it is about Trump, I am happy about greater independence for Europe, too! There is also Galileo (GPS alternative) and IRIS2 (for governmental, business, and private communication. Sort of an alternative to Starlink) and a few others out there2.

I tried making my own, but generally I download them from Ankiweb. It depends on the deck how well build they are and which media they contain (audio/images/weblinks).

I don't think anyone is doubting that, the real question remains whether the US will keep cooperating.

Proposal: A European Defense Organisation (EDO) - concept & open questions
If the US pulls out, NATO could continue existing with current members. I'd like to see a European Military Union (part of the EU) which in its turn is part of NATO, but NATO itself doesn't need replacing. Let's also hope the US will at some point return to democratic values and be a supporting member of international organisations again. I hope other countries (especially European) have learned that alliances have weaknesses, especially when you put all faith on one single country.

Thanks! My opinion is that images from NASA, ESA etc should always link to the source. They always include interesting information about what is in the image. It is also nice if I don't need to search the database for ages.

‘European Security Council Now!’ – EU Defense Chief Renews Calls for Common Army
If this is a compromise to get states on-board (so they can keep their national armies), I'd consider it a promising start.
