It is fascinating how the crown is a universal symbol of authority and power, almost all cultures had coronation ceremonies despite some of them never having had contact with the rest of the world.
They never had contact ? Like when ? People travelling most of the globe way before British figured out basic stuff.
Ancient sumeria, Egypt, Assyrians and Indians had concepts like crowns. Also if a civilization did something cool, others usually copied it under 200 years.
Not a historian, so grain of salt.

May be not.

Lemmy.world updated to 0.18.1
Thanks @[email protected] . Will this be normal cadence ? You are doing what you can because of major bug fixes but should the largest lemmy instance be the latest version ?

Just create advertising community and let all advertise on that community alone ? Thats a good idea, kind of like 'deals' but you pay to post there.

Now that we are all switching to Lemmy, now is the time for all the redditors with embarrassing usernames to make their username right! Don't screw up this time!
I did good, me thinks.

I hate ads like the rest of us but can community donations sustain the instance ? If they do why dont we have that model yet ? Why we still keeping using YouTube and Gmail etc ? What percentage of community would donate ? Will be donating to the community or the server instance ? Will there be push back from users of small communities who are paying if the money goes purely into the maintenance of large communities ?

I kind of hate that the greatest minds on earth are working on creating products on monetizing around the current advertising model.(Ex: Google/Facebook/Amazon etc).
If the advertising model useless or less useful why do we keep doing it ? I think we hate it and that's why we are on Lemmy but most people suck up to ads do buy useless shit. Check out the rise of Temu and Shein.

The 100$ was an example but I get your point. It feels like every option leads more or less to some billion dollar company becoming richer.

[DISCUSSION] Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (Spoilers)
I don't understand the plot, can you please explain?
The goober. The countries want it to control them. Ethan wants it so we can destroy the entity. Why does Gabriel(the entity) want it ?
Why can't the entity nuke Rome when two parts of the key are on Rome(or Venice) and be done with it.
Ona side note,am all knowing entity can't get to its own source code or recreate it ? I have a feeling that the entity wants Ethan to get the key for some unknown reason.
