In grocery stores here they usually line up the dairy products along these "stages". I've got laughted at before when I said "man, I never remember where along the 'milk spectrum' they place the crème fraîche."

I was only lurking on reddit. Here I'm trying to help make the place feel alive by also commenting and engaging. So far I'm really enjoying the experience and I'm not looking back. Also yes, I feel like I do spend a bit more time on lemmy, but it might just be the novelty.

I like to have it set to "all" and "new comments". There is some movement but its slow enough to be usable. Also posts which are very active are more likely to appear there but you still see some newer stuff.

I really hope the "hot" and "active" algorithms will be fixed soon though.

5-6 hours seems excessive... If you have other issues that are the root cause, maybe deal with those first, but if it's a self-control issue (which it was for me sometimes) there are great browser plugins to block certain sites after a certain amount of time. I use LeechBlock for firefox and after my "self allotted time" it locks down reddit and lemmy for me so I can't access it any more. There are similar plug ins for other browsers, I can really recommend it!

Ps: But to answer your original question, from an ideological standpoint, definitely stay on lemmy.

With how capable modern mobile CPUs are phones could really last a long time without feeling "so last generation" very fast. So the battery really often is the bottleneck and not having it be replaceable would really just be planned obsolescence with extra steps. It's good to hear some good news once in a while.

Sure, and nobody would blame them if they simply tried to create a sustainable business with positive cashflow. The type of capitalism that is referenced here is the one where you squeeze every last penny out of the platform and would even sell your users trust, which your long term profit relies upon, if it means higher numbers in your quarterly report.

True, although the "embrace" step is usually done out in the open. But yeah, if the rumers are true, you never know what they came up with.
