Progressives Up in Arms After AOC Loses Key Committee Seat
Reply in thread
The frustration is real. There's a movement to create an American Labor Party. I think if it gets enough steam we might see some real change.

Sound Off: How many 10+ year redditors have left the site?
11 years for me, mostly lurking. Happy to move away as it has declined heavily in the last half decade. Lemmy is such a breath of fresh air! I would love to see a continued mass exodus.

Are You So Burned Out From Work You Can't Even Function? You're Not Alone
Yeah okay so if 66-74% of millennials and Gen z are moderately burnt out, that's a goddamn systemic issue. It's almost as though late stage capitalism in America might be collapsing and we're the collateral damage. But I'm sure we can just vote our way out of it.

Yup. Just a friendly reminder that just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions.

Oh for sure. As a leftist I think most liberals are assholes.

As a backend developer, where do I even start with frontend? Feeling major choice paralysis
Reply in thread
As a frontend dev working my way to the backend, I would probably say a stack of React/Vue, Typescript, and SASS. These are industry standards (or at least, as standard as you can get with such a fractured ecosystem). And/or: learning the ins and outs of an ecommerce platform for theme development, like Shopify or BigCommerce. In terms of frameworks, I prefer Vue because it's a little higher level than React and translated well from vanilla JS.

Have you read Babel by R.F. Kuang? Did you like it?
I read and enjoyed it but it was definitely very "hit you over the head" on imperialism/colonialism, and the ending was kind of predictable.
The Poppy War trilogy, however, I am nearly finished with and I have absolutely loved. It is raw, honest, unpredictable, and very well written. Also long af.

Seriously. I think frustration with the Democratic party is at an all-time high though, and that might be an important catalyst.
Not holding my breath but I'll do that I can to help the cause.

Yup. It's all a show to keep themselves in power while doing nothing. Performative time wasting as a generation drowns.

Sega Genesis. Mine came bundled with Sonic Spinball and we paid something like $199 for it back in 1994.
