The Taliban hold another public execution as thousands watch at a stadium in northern Afghanistan

Probably because the US didn't do them at a stadium...

OpenAI Pleads That It Can’t Make Money Without Using Copyrighted Materials for Free
For years Microsoft and Google were happy to acquiesce to copyright claims from the music and movie industry. Now all of a sudden when it benefits them to break those same laws, they immediately did. And now those industries who served small creators copyright claims are up against someone with a bigger legal budget.
It's more evident then ever how broken our copyright system is. I'm hoping this blows up in both parties faces and we finally get some reform but I'm not holding my breath.
This is an assumption but I bet all the data feed into Content ID on YouTube was used to train Bard/Gemini....

When I found out my cousin in Turkey who worked at a major car manufacturer as an engineer made less with a PHD then I did waiting tables in the US is when I realized how messed up it was for young people in Turkey.
He has since moved to Belgium and gets paid quite well.

MyAnimeList Acquired by Gaudiy Inc.

There was a couple of reasons that I switched a few years back but it really boils down to
-So much more customization for scoring. You can do 1-10 (down to the decimal), 1-5, stars or even smiley faces.
-Extremely clean interface that is way less cluttered then MAL
-Better mobile app support in AL-Chan
-More QOL that caters to the seasonal watcher
-More details about a show
Overall I think it does 99% of what MAL does but does it better. My only gripes with anilist at this point is that they don't show the OPs and EDs like MAL does.
You can easily export your list from MAL to anilist so the barrier to entry is tiny.

Friend of mine has been on wegovy and has lost almost 40 pounds in 4-5 months. It was almost discouraging to hear that as it has taken me two years to set the correct habits to lose almost 35 pounds (and keep it off).
The side effects of those drugs are real though. My friend says she constantly feels nausea and it's weird to see her eat so little... When we go out I would be surprised if she even eats half her plate, if that.
It's been a long journey for me personally to lose weight. I had to teach myself how to use gym equipment, cut out all sodas, and to suppress my cravings. To see people take what looks like "the easy way out" can sting... but in the end, I feel better then ever.

Mexico’s Moment: The Biggest US Trading Partner Is No Longer China
Reply in thread
Almost all freight from Mexico to the US and vice versa gets offloaded at a warehouse on the border and then switched to a different driver/mode of transportation as having a driver eligible to do the whole trip is hard to come by and expensive.
That being said, the rail ramp in Laredo, TX (the crossing point of Nuevo Leon, MX and the US) is active and widely used. Issue is that rail is slow so if your shipment has any urgency, you just use a truck. I use both and while US rail companies suck to work with, they can be very effective cost wise and help keep our total carbon emissions down. But nothing beats a truck in terms of speed and availability in the US...

You don't need to be able to know the words to understand the emotions. It's asking why watch any movies in the original language.
When I went to go see Star Wars Episode 3 when I was overseas, the English version with subtitles was packed while the local language dubbed version had a moderate crowd. People want to see the original because the delivery is usually just better, even if they can't understand the words.

Chonky fella I saw when I went to the Troy Excavation Site
Reply in thread
Yup that's the one. Troy was really cool. They have the dig site open to visit for a fee. You then can walk along a raised walkway and there are placards saying what they found in that particular spot. Turns out, there are 9 layers of towns on the spot one group called Troy! After that you can go to the provincial capital close by to see the Trojan horse used in the movie Tory with Brad Pitt which was also pretty nice. All in all, can recommend the visit to that part of Turkey.

A Ukrainian sailor was rescued off the coast of Turkey almost a day after he fell overboard.
Reply in thread
I imagine it was freezing. Makes sense since the Turkish sailor you can hear yelling is basically saying "Bring me a blanket for him"
