Mom jailed for letting 10-year-old walk alone to town
I started walking to school when I was eight. My parents made sure I knew the way and that was that. And on our bikes we went wayyy farther than a mile unsupervised

what is the most "above your station" thing you have ever experienced?
A girl I dated was friends with the daughter of one of Microsoft's founders and we got invited to their house to watch Seafair. I think it'd be safe to call it a small mansion right on the water with a dock. The kitchen was as big as my whole apartment. The technology was a bit dated but must've been state of the art when it was built. Switches for automated everything. On the water we had front row seats to the Blue Angels. They are incredibly loud up close.
The guy was super down to earth. Had a good conversation where he showed genuine interest in me and what I did.
9.9/10, the hot tub was broken

Those who've switched to Linux in the last year, how is it going?
I'm perfectly happy using Mint. I'll explore more distros eventually but I miss nothing about Windows

Gen Zers' definition of financial success includes joining the top 1% — and they're really confident about making it
I was recently forced to spend time with some gen Z people, and there was a girl who would go on and on about how her ex would rake in something like $20k a month from his tiktok channel. I think kids just caught on that you can be dumb as a brick, morally a piece of shit, and remarkably untalented, but if you get lucky and build a following online you'll realize success that just wasn't available before the modern internet era

Has anyone her watched Hellboy: The Crooked Man? How was it?
Just finished it this morning. I liked this take on the character more than David Harbour's and even Pearlman's. More serious and subdued and offered more than quips. As far as the movie, it felt like I was watching a fan film made by some YouTube channel.

If all your basic needs were met and you didn't have to work to get by, what would you do with your life?
I can answer this because it's true. I work out daily, cook every meal, hangout all day with my dogs, explore YouTube rabbit holes, and read scifi. Without an alarm, I'm suddenly a morning person. Up by five with energy. I'm trying to figure out my next move. Weird thing is, it's probably another career. Just on my terms

Pete Hegseth Says the Pentagon's New Chatbot Will Make America 'More Lethal'
I don't know about more lethal, but an LLM could probably help out with administrative work and logistics. There's a lot of paperwork
