Extreme Heat: Improving governance and strengthening action around the world - cancelled due to Extreme Heat

Reply in thread

Not a single person in the entire world.

I mean, millions of scientists... but no one else.

Well, some politicians don't have their head completely up their ass, but not any others.

Well... significant portions of the population are at least trying to mitigate it in what limited fashion they're allowed to... but that's it.

Or rather, the ruling capital class is doing nothing about it and in fact seemingly hastening the effects in order to glorify themselves and solidify their power over others. And while there is significant scientific and popular support for doing something about it... most just aren't willing to give up the comforts those capitalists graciously sell to us to do enough to stop it.

Prediction vs Reality

Its not one or the other, that's overly simplistic. Using this one data point to "prove" climate change is about as honest as someone bringing a snowball into congress to prove it's fake.

You need both to prove a sustainable point, otherwise it's forgotten with the next cold snap. This is one extreme data point, and it helps to showcase the problem, but it is not the only one. Use it as part of a whole, not as a singular showcase.

Thats my interpretation of OPs comment.
