Thankfully I have managed to get everyone to switch from Messenger to Signal, atleast for talking to me haha. Two other family members being privacy oriented too really helped getting the rest of the family moved over.

My new m.2 ssd
The port is a B key m.2, while the ssd is an M key m.2
B keys are used in SATA m.2 ssds, while M keys are pcie nvme m.2 ssds. You bought an nvme m.2 ssd, but needed a sata m.2 ssd.
(You can tell by how there are 28 pins on that side of the port, and 29 on the ssd. That matches b and m keys, respectively)

Renewables blow past nuclear when it comes to cheap datacenter juice
Its wonderful how they just drop the "20% is gas" part from that headline. Yes, burning gas is cheap, but it is also aweful for the environment and shouldn't be getting considered at all.. 20% of a fuck ton of power is still a shitload of power. I think that's how those units work anyway.

American attitudes about AI today mirror poll answers about the rise of the internet in the '90s
Reply in thread
It is very useful, just only in very few circumstances. 99% of what people are shoving it into, it has no place being there, but there are some things that it legitimately just does better.

The anti-AI sentiment in the free software communities is concerning.

These days, it is often misused by ignorant people because it sounds derogatory.

Yeeeah, gonna have to disagree with that. Having dead simple access to your library on any device is amazing. ABS syncs your listening position between devices, has offline downloading, supports rich metadata, collections, customized sleep timers, and quite a bit more.

GNOME & Firefox Consider Disabling Middle Click Paste By Default: "An X11'ism...Dumpster Fire"
Ill be very happy when that day comes. Its one of the first things I need to search for how to disable every time i setup a new machine. To me, middle click has always been panning a canvas, and rectangle selecting text in editors. Its always super jarring having it paste text on new gnome machines

My latest Linux-convincing story
Windows Defender is actually quite good these days. The main reason an enterprise would use a 3rd party AV/Firewall would be centralized management of said av and firewall. If IT needs to install apps and make them work, they also need the ability to manage the AV/Firewall.

Lemmy as a whole is at 150k, lemmy.world is at 33k right now, and is 3k behind lemmy.ml (though it seems lemmy.world has more active users).

My new m.2 ssd
Reply in thread
In your case, an adapter wouldn't really be possible. The other way around maybe would have been, but adapting Sata to pcie just isn't possible. Your best bet would be to return that ssd and buy a sata m.2 one.
