TIL that Missouri forced Kansas City to spend at least 25% of its budget on police. The measure passed, despite 66% of Kansas City residents opposing it
If two-thirds of a populace is opposed to something, and their government approves it anyway. Then their government is illegitimate.

does not rule (also fuck the police and corporate news)
I don't think the press cares about the CEO as much as they like the revenue the story generates for them. It's always about money. Same reason we see so many stories about Trump and his cronies.

I can give you my two cents. Currently, there aren't many left leaning pundits, and I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. His privilege means nothing if he's actually being a good progressive advocate. Also, he's actually talking about the things the left populace actually care about. Controlled opposition wouldn't look like him to me. They'd be more like the Democrat party, trying to copitulate with the right. He's been fairly consistent with his messaging of workers rights, lgbtq rights, womens rights, and the atrocities happening in Gaza. His income from streaming is incidental, and isn't a problem in and of itself. In fact, it lets him be independent and not beholden to corporate media. It's hard enough to afford bills working a regular job. The vast majority of regular jobs take all your time, leaving none for anything else, much less being a left leaning advocate online. I'm assuming you'd rather a full-time employee take his place, but how would someone like that be able to be effective in their advocacy?

How Google Maps offers me an alternate route that is longer, slower, eats more fuel, and has tolls on it for some reason
Reply in thread
One time I was making my way home, about a 4 hour drive, and set it in google maps. I had forgot to turn off tolls, and started driving. It was a real surprise when I ended up at a ferry to cross Lake Michigan. I dont think they took cars, and it was 11pm anyway so they were closed. Thanks google! Idk how thats supposed to help when the ferry is scheduled for every couple hours. Who would even want that option? It didnt save any time unless you could hop on a ferry as soon as you got there.

Trump admits tariffs are a tax on America's love for hamburgers and allows 300,000 metric tons of ground beef imports at 'below current market prices'
By that admission, it stands to reason that all tariffs are a tax on Americans.
Not surprised by that lack of foresight.

I'd argue that there isn't anyone spoon-feeding him anything. They're all just like that.

Do it for fun
I know a lot of people in the comments don't like this. And they're perfectly valid. One solution doesn't work for everyone and it misses a lot of nuance.
That being said, I actually did something like this for my social anxiety, which was damn near debilitating. I had to constantly remind myself that none of what I'm doing is risky or dangerous. Im just gonna roll with the punches. And if I do something that I might cringe about later, fuck it. Do i really care about what strangers think? And if the people I do know are of any value, they won't chastize me for being a bit odd. So just own it.
This took years to get through. I basically brute forced myself through the social interactions until the anxiety was nowhere near as strong. I still have it, but my job forces me to talk to new people all the time. It got manageable. Maybe something like that could work for someone else.
This is not medical advice, and I strongly suggest you talk with a therapist if you have these issues. I was just too poor to do anything else about it.

Super Bowl Fallout: ICE Says Attacks on Agents Have Jumped More Than 1,300% Nationwide
If that percent is actually true, then those must be very small numbers. 1 attack to 13 attacks is a 1300% increase after all.

I get the sentiment. But I don't need to be lgbtq to be an advocate for their rights. I just want people to be able to be who/what they want and thrive. Compared to them I'm privileged (white cishet male), but I doubt they'd complain about me being an ally.

In order for a law to be effective, it must be enforced. It's simply just not being enforced, for Google.
