Liquid Death Quietly Adds Stevia to Tea Drinks

Reply in thread

Stevie leaf extract is a petroleum base sweetener. It was used as an artificial sweetener , but then they found that it could be naturally occurring in small quantities and rebranded. It works like natural flavors where it can still come from petroleum so long as its naturally occurring with some source. I find it extremely bitter and soapy, just like almost every other artificial sweetener.

California moves to exempt Linux from its upcoming age-verification law after backlash over forcing operating systems to collect users’ ages

Reply in thread

The california law isn't actually age verification. It is unchecked age assertion at the operating system level. He is also there specifically for the parents to fill out. When a new device is purchased. I have no doubts. It will be misused and lead to age verification in the OS with a third party verifying the age, but that isnt want the bill is now

Lg tried it on refrigerators, even though refrigerators are not delivered in boxes. So the customer never receives them. The delayed or denied every warranty claim on their stupid 2 stage refrigerant pump, then said since the customer opened the box with the terms agreement that they couldn't sue. It took more than a year to resolve just that there could be a class action lawsuit against LG.

Samsung phones can survive twice as many charges as Pixel and iPhone, according to EU data

Reply in thread

When you do the initial setup it asks if you'd like to optimize for battery health and most people say yes. Most recently it wouldn't even tell you that it was only charging to 80%.It would still charge to a hundred but that would actually be eighty percent. Around a year ago they changed it so now it says eighty percent when you're at full charge if you have the battery health turned on.

If you turn on the battery over provisioning you would see the same battery life at about a year and a half and then after that the provision battery will last longer. After the exploding phone they also provisioned five percent of all batteries.

Due to marketing b*******, most things labeled as 3G are actually 2G.So networks don't support both two and three g. Then things that are actually 3G like hspda and L.T.E are marketed as four g , so it's just very confusing between all of it. They want to shut down the 2G.Networks that are edge and gsm.And they want to shut down the one g network that's cdma. Depending on your service that could be marketed as 123 or even four g.

In a historic about-face, Apple publicly supports right-to-repair bill

Reply in thread

The last time it failed it was supposed to come back with allowing modules instead of parts. Apple would be fine with selling "modules" as they consider their devices to be top case, bottom case, motherboard, battery, and screen (has stuff attached.) If they can have a needs calibration some where to shame 3rd party repairs and not allow board level repair it is just what they wanted.

Pounds are a measure of weight (force) not mass like grams. Stone is the imperial measure of mass and slug is the standard unit (US unit). In metric Newtons would be equivalent to pounds.

SSD Endurance question.

Write endurance is based on the entire drive. If you had the drive mostly full, fully formatted with no overprovisioning, and kept using a small portion of the drive, it matches your expected lifespan. You maybe did a little better than expected.

It is illegal for all carriers using gsm-based communication. So that's everyone at the moment and that means that you can't have phones locked when they're purchased. They can lock the phones they're under contracts if you finance the phone. Then they don't have to remove that until the phone is completely paid off. What's been going on over the last 4 or 5 years is the company will give you a subsidy for the phone even if you pay it off in full and then claim that that subsidy is part of a financing deal. So they'll put a fake price and be like the phone cost $1,200 but we'll sell it to you for $800. Then when you pay off the 800 right when you walk out the door you're still getting a subsidy that directly pays for that extra $400 they gave you off that wasn't part of the actual price. If you ever go to change service they automatically use the rest of that monthly subsidy immediately to pay off the phone keep that on the phone since the cost is the same as the subsidy for each month you have the phone untill it's paid off.

If you have Verizon they have been blocking phones even if they're not allowed to do that claiming that any phone not purchased through them or the model number that they sell in the store is not compatible with their Network and needs to be evaluated for security. Then they make it a pain in the ass to get your phone approved to be on their Network and it can take up to 90 days even if it's the same phone just the "unlocked" version with a different model number. This was less of an issue when the FCC rules for GSM based carriers were being enforced, but under Trump and Bush they were not enforcing the rules. And until LTE we had two carriers that were not using GSM based technology so they were not covered by the rules.

Voice over l t e is not standardized and the carriers on the I p to connect to their system. So every carrier has an encrypted blob that only works with whatever version of phone they want to sell. If you have a major phone like an iPhone or a pixel, then apple and Google work to make sure that those seemlessly download. But if you're any other brand you're kind of screwed. Even Samsung has issues since I can't use the Play Store to distribute it in their own app.Store doesn't have good support from the carriers. The carriers really push that only the phones are purchased from them work. Spokennoise, they also pushed it unsecured.Devices need to be wiped, including them voiceover Lte data.

Look at the issues with australian service right now , they are even trying to stop iphones from other countries from using it. Apple has a whole system to make sure that all phones work with the same voice over lte stuff following the bands match and auto download the blobs.
