Exactly. Right now developers get good deals when adding their games to game pass and the game pass is pretty cheap, but after game passes become "the thing" and developers have to be in a game pass, it will get worse for developers and consumers.

I replaced Discord(and Whatsapp) with Matrix/Element as voice chat (and general chat) with my wife. I remember running it with Docker was bit annoying to set up (I was selfhosting beginner when first doing it now it could be easier), but with Yunohost it is one click install (if you are willing with swap operating server).

Nextcloud Talk could work for your needs, but I have not personally used it so hard to recommend it.

Study by Google who benefits from AI hype. Big doubt. But also I would be interested to know what "counts as using AI". Doing one query once per month just to try solve some specific issue vs daily use/vibe coding.

I tried using AI to create my games, but most of the time it just got in the way. And now that I am more conscious about harm and issues of AI, I refuse to use it unless in really specific scenarios.

Deadlock. As a parent and full time worker I don't have time to commit to a new live service multiplayer. It would be amazing to be a teenager or student again and just grind that game as nolife.

I guess the scope was too ambitious. Economy is not doing that well so AAA studios don't like to take any risks. Both this and Blizzard's survival game was cancelled. It is sad that so many developer hours are wasted on these projects and we get nothing out of it. It would be amazing if these games would get released as open source for someone else to finish it.
