Danny Masterson Accuser Slams New Linkin Park Singer For Silence On Scientology

It's good to see so many people now recognize scientology for the dangerous and manipulative cult it is and hope this starts to extend to the others like Falun Gong who are objectively worse in many regards but their propaganda tools like Epoch Times and their show Shen Yun are bizarrely popular in the US and much of Europe with hardly anyone ever commenting on the torture, rape, murder, and all the typical evil cult stuff they do.

Where's the justice?

One of my biggest fears is being murdered and the true crime podcasts all go into deep dives calling me a loser and talking everything out of context to make me a good victim for their show.

There was one I saw about a girl murdered by some weird boy she knew and they'd gone deep into everything she was doing in the weeks leading upto it, how her diary showed she had a crush on someone but then they went into details about how that guy didn't like her... it didn't even add anything to motive or means, it was just an aside about the vixtim being unpopular.

Street-Complete, like Pokemon Go but for good.

I love this app so much, also if you really get into it go to the open street map website and draw buildings, roads, etc to add missing places or update changes.

I cleared my whole walkable area of questions then added all the houses and it populates new questions about house number, shop name, etc which I then went and filled out while walking round. In the zone around me the open source map is now by far the best free to access map, Google house numbers are completely random and no where has upto data shops.

There's also a lot of cool projects devoted to mapping under-served areas, especially in regions where aid workers need information or natural disasters have changed landscapes. You draw in roads, towns, farms, etc based on areal imagery.

Fatherly hazing

On work experience the guy sent me to get a long weight and I was like to myself 'fine ill go look for something that doesn't exist and have my lunch too. If you want a long wait..' I go back and he gets off his ladder exasperated, goes to the van and gets a long string plumb line.

To all you outside of the US...

At least you can tell where something happens by place names, I get headlines '12 shot in Manchester gun fight' or 'Birmingham man kills 8 in roadrage incident' and there's just no way of telling it's America... OK, well those examples are obvious but the point stands.

And I'll vote for him again

A lot of my American friends are buying into this both sides thing, they say prices are up and the democrats aren't doing enough to deal with the climate so neither really care about anything...

I've been an eco obsessive since the 90s so to me it's painfully clear the night and day difference between the two parties, trying to explain it is so hard because they've got their talking points like more drilling under Biden than Trump but when you try to talk about the lag effects related to leased land it's all just hand waved away - they've seen people talking about it as true and not mentioning that lease sales are at all time lows which will result in significantly less permits in future years so it's 'Biden bad, end of story.' Saying 'they say there'll be less but they say anything, they said there would be less now' totally ignoring the logic of the argument.

Right wing psychological experts plan these talking points and seed them, the left falls for them every time it's so frustrating.

I think part of the problem is people want the world to be simple, the immigration issue is another thing a lot of my left voting friends are struggling with at the moment, blaming the housing crisis on immigration for example then I point out immigrants working construction is super common and they say why don't they work instead of being put up in hotels so I say there's a complex process involved in getting a right to work designed to protect American jobs and many are rejected and returned to their country of origin without obtaining this right... but again 'it's super complex and messy but they're trying to improve things' is easily shrugged off just like with the climate argument by saying 'they only say they're trying, trying means nothing only actions matter'

The problem is the two parties play totally different games with totally different objectives. One is trying to tangle a ball of yarn into.a mess and the other is attempting to untangle it and knit a cardigan.

Is anyone else tired of the doom posts on Lemmy?

We do need to address certain toxic traits that are bringing things down, hyper negativity is the default as well as intense partisanship to the point where anyone with a slightly unpopular opinion is instantly labeled as an troll, bot, or agent of dark forces - you can see it a dozen times just in this thread.

There is no debate here because anyone who doesn't follow the groupthink is chased out, the news is super biased because of this but it also spills over in to everywhere.

I think there are too many people that think they should be the dictator of lemmy, we really need to start up voting good posts and useful content rather than knee-jerk down voting.
