This is why I share the complete GameFAQs archive. It's art, it's useful, it's free of ads, and I have precious memories from the discussion boards. That archive and emulators will keep me entertained forever.

Aerospace manufacturing has a paper trail longer than you can imagine. The company selling this part can tell you (well, the FAA) the exact ingot out of the foundry and every single process and every person who has touched it since then.

No machine shop will take this job; the moment this guy is unable to produce a serial number and paperwork from an approved manufacturer (likely during preflight if not installation) the FAA will track down the owner of said shop. At best that owner will lose their business and pay a massive fine, at worst spend a good long time in prison.

The FAA doesn't fuck around and for that I am thankful.

Harry Potter was such a crucial part of my childhood and teen years. I cried when Dumbledore died. I read several of the books over a dozen times, and did an annual reread of the whole series for awhile.

I'm not trans but that TERF cunt will never see another cent or good word from me. I spit on her name as she spit on my childhood. Solidarity, friend.

Bill to to revoke Trump's "emergency order" to bypass congress in proclaiming tariffs failed because two senators were absent.

Were you beaten as a child? Exploited for labor, derided for showing emotions? What lessons do you think that kind of suffering teaches? Do you think suffering builds character?

You say you are "willing to take the pain." Then immediately admit you won't feel as much pain as your 'lessers' but it's okay because it'll teach them. Those 'unlucky others' are people who will die. Do you hate your neighbors so much you will let them die after they've been lied to and gaslit by the owning class for decades?

Hurt people have two options; keep hurting those around them, or do their best to advocate, educate, and protect their community from further harm.

Which do you think works better in the long run?

Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner says nobody ever told him the large SS-Totenkopf tattoo he's had on his chest for the last 18 years is a Nazi symbol

I think bookending the two recent quotes with the obviously more problematic quotes from 8 years prior is intentional. A lot can change in 8 years, especially when you transition from military to civilian life. I think the ACAB sentiment he expressed in 2021 shows growth.

(Anecdotal bias incoming) The comment on rural white Americans, while inflammatory and unhelpful, isn't all that off-base in my experience. If you are born into, grow up in and stay within the same rural 10 mile radius your entire life you tend to lack perspective to say the least. Growing up in a town or village that is 90%+ white provides no frame of reference for the varying struggles people of color experience.

I grew up in one such town. Demographics were roughly 90% white, 10% Hispanic. I didn't have a black classmate until junior year of high school and I don't want to speculate about the reception they received.

As for stupidity, acquiring knowledge is at best unemphasized and at worst actively, intentionally discouraged. Willful ignorance may be a more accurate term.

There are certainly children curious enough to seek out knowledge and learn about other human experiences (hi) but I'm still struggling to escape that bucket of crabs and it has consumed and scarred me. The access to quality healthcare was abysmal, employment was primarily factory-based and starting from a place of low familial wealth is something I've struggled against my entire adult life. I'd venture a guess that he was raised in a similar setting and was only able to escape via military service.

In short; I agree with the sentiments he's expressed recently. I vehemently disagree with the sentiments he expressed over a decade ago. I'm willing to believe the tattoo was an arbitrarily chosen flash piece done in Croatia during his time in the Marines. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'll never be his constituent so my opinion ultimately means jack shit.

A friend of mine had Nitro silently activated on her account. No payment method attached, no transactions, just Nitro. They emailed support who replied with "Oh it's our new promotion! You get to try it for free, no need to pay or add your card. We'll ask for your money once it's done."

Which is absolute batshit evil drug dealer energy. I bet they rolled that promo out while the CFPB's corpse was still warm.

getting a deadly infection and an eating disorder from an untreated shattered tooth because dental isn’t considered healthcare

I'm literally looking forward to having 8 teeth pulled this month because A. at least the pain will go away B. They're putting me under general because the several extractions I've had before this traumatized the shit out of me.

I could also share the story of paying $800 for a root canal and temp crown then losing my job before getting the perm crown. The remainder of that tooth was extracted a year later for $350.

Paying $1150 to lose a tooth radicalized the fuck out of me.

This is real

Am I the only one concerned that the senator didn't forcibly bring him home? I feel like a US Marshall or three should have accompanied Mr. Garcia and the senator out the front door and onto the jet all the cons are complaining about.

Canadian man shot, killed on U.S. golf trip while walking to hotel

I grew up and worked around Sheboygan Falls. I have a friend or two that live there. Sheboygan Falls is pretty damn rural and quiet as fuck. "Drive-by shooting" is such a bafflingly unlikely cause of this shooting. I'd be more inclined to believe the police did it and are lying about it than believe Sheboygan Falls had a random drive-by shooting.

Honestly at this time of year I'd say a deer poacher or some drunk rednecks plinking away with zero regard for what's behind their target (or no target whatsoever) is a much more likely scenario. Actually, now that I consider it drunk redneck drive-by may in fact be a potential cause. Such a dumb fucking place filled with dumb fucking drunks.

I'm so damn sorry for this man and his family and so damn happy I have moved far away from that fucking part of Wisconsin.

Young men are struggling in a slowing job market, even if they have college degrees

I am in this article and I don't like it.

Mechanical Engineer, graduated a few years ago. Slightly above this age band due to mental health struggles in my 20s. Four years of internships + undergrad research during school. One year, three months of unsteady, career-relevant contract work since then.

Moved from Bumfuck Midwest to a city with plenty of aerospace gigs but can't even get an interview at the grocery store. I'm lucky that my parents and state aid have covered me thus far, have gotten wildly higher-quality mental/physical care here. Behaviourally I'm better than ever but chucking resumes into the void is wearing me down and I'm backsliding on my executive functioning progress.

Employment or a Master's/PhD in Sweden/Germany/EU in general is preferable to the American defense industry but that's a tall and expensive hill to climb (if anyone wants to assist please DM 🙃) and I'm nearly out of time before being faced with moving back home.

I'm tired, boss.

You can’t start a strike if you don’t have a union and your co-workers don’t agree

This is a major point that those outside of the US seem to miss, I think. The sheer depth of contempt for unions and unionization I've experienced is a massive barrier to organizing any significant resistance. I'm very certain a majority of US citizens are unaware of what a general strike even looks like. Corporate propaganda has very successfully vilified and diminished unions for a long time.
