CEO who snatched boy's hat at US Open says he made 'huge mistake'

His original response:

“The recent incident at the tennis match has caused a disproportionate online uproar. It’s all about the famous hat, of course. Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served,” he claimed.

“I understand that some people might not like it, but please, let’s not make a global scandal out of the hat. It’s just a hat. If you were faster, you would have it. Regarding online hate, I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of taking the matter to court.

“In the end, chin up, hats off, less venom, more sportsmanship.”

What browser is better: DuckDuckGo or Vivaldi?

To echo @[email protected], you should give LibreWolf a look. It's based on Firefox, but with the telemetry disabled and the default settings set in a way that best protects your privacy.

One adjustment I faced when switching to it was that, by default, LibreWolf deletes all cookies upon exiting, which was annoying for sites I want to stay logged into (e.g. my email). But you can either turn that off, or click on the lock icon in the address bar and tell LibreWolf to save cookies for that site, which is what I did- and WOW DO I LOVE IT! Bonus perk is that it breaks nag windows on sites that keep track of how many articles you've read.

Net Worth crossed $1mm. Now what? [NA,SA,EU]

To all of you in the comments who are trying to give OP advice, thank you.

To OP, I'm sure you aren't doing it intentionally, but you're getting some great free advice from internet strangers, but your responses are coming off condescending and unappreciative.

To eco some of the others:

  • Get a tax accountant to help you plan for tax time. The cost is minimal and the savings could be impactful.
  • Invest the portion that you are not going to spend on taxes or the condo. You said you don't like Vanguard. Okay. Fidelity has a great mutual fund search tool that allows you to filter for other traits such a sustainability. Yields may be lower, but you do you.
  • Look into finding a fee only financial fiduciary to help you come up with an investment and retirement plan.
  • If you graduated Uni 10 years ago, I assume you are still young and are in your prime earning years / future life events (spouse, kids, etc) may alter your expenses. You may want to consider staying in the job market in some capacity until you're positive the income or skills are no longer needed.

Or ignore. It's your life. Congrats on the windfall and kudos on keeping your expenses so low. Best of luck!

How To Support a Strike

They cannot join a rival business (nature of the industry / position they're in) and they are picketing.

I could probably take a day off work and show up with food / water. Not sure how helpful that is?
