What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

Food banks. Look at your local church, synagogue, or mosque. A lot of them do community outreach and have some kind of food bank.

If you're skipping meals or you have $5 'til next Friday, the food bank is for you. Don't feel like you're taking something away from someone "more needy." It's you. You're needy. Take the help. That was a hard lesson to learn in my 20s.

Ignorance or enlightenment?

IIRC a few years ago they tried to charge an 18 year old with possession of CP for having nudes of his 17 year old girlfriend at the time. Apparently her parents found out about their relationship and didn't approve. Which seems like something that could have been handled with a sit-down talk rather than arresting him and potentially putting him on a list for life, but what do I know.

It's honestly a huge turn off to Lemmy writ large. Look at what happened when Dawson released Sync.

A few weeks ago someone posted to c/techsupport with an issue with their Office install. Every. Single. Comment. was "uSe LiBrEoFfIcE” or something to that effect, some going as far as to insult the OP for asking a tech support question in the tech support forum, because MiCrOsOfT bAaAaAd.

I was the only one to offer a real solution. If I were that OP, I wouldn't come back to Lemmy.

Beta 26 is already a MASSIVE improvement over Jerboa or the web client. Thanks for making this happen so fast!

As for the pricing, I was a paid Sync for Reddit user for YEARS. $20 is nothing for the countless hours of scrolling I got out of it.

And it's always wrong in the weirdest, someone-has-to-be-fucking-with-me ways. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese McMuffin for breakfast the other day. I hate their cheese, so I ordered just sausage and egg.

I opened the wrapper to my sandwich, and I had a sausage patty and 3 slices of cheese. It was rung up correctly, so I truly have no clue what was going on in the back.
