A deckbuilding question:

According to MTG Goldfish every Gruul Delirium deck in standard runs exactly one copy of Commercial District, which is the red-green surveil land. What could be the reasoning behind this?

I get that a single surveil land can be valuable in fixing a topdeck when you can tutor for it, e.g. with a fetch land. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do that in these decks.

Delirium decks care about graveyard, so in that sense it's not out of place, but then again why only one?

Is there something I'm missing, or is just something along the lines of "Well I need one more land, let's go with that 🤷🏻‍♀️"

Do you double sleeve your decks? Why / why not?

I don't have that much first hand experience but here's a quick literary review of random internet posts:

Pros

• Cards are protected from liquids
• Keeps foils planar
• Top part of the card is protected from dirt
  • Is this really such a problem?
• Some people like the shuffle feel
• Cards remain single sleeved when you remove the outer sleeves and put them into a binder

Cons

• More costly
• Thicker decks, especially in 100 card formats
• Deck boxes become tight, trouble fitting tokens etc.
• Shuffling may become more cumbersome

Budget modern deck recommendations at around the 100€ mark.

Real meta decks with fetchlands and all are super expensive, but I'm not looking to win a tournament. Just having a modern legal deck to play and have some fun at FNM would be nice.

Being able to win a game here and there is preferrable, but it's not all about winrates. Other merits can include being fun, cool or whacky.

Wouldn't it be cool to sport custom printed coasters with your brews? Hell yeah it would!

Where should one get these in the EU though?

Most shops I found are only selling in bulk, targeting bars. You'll have plethora of options if quantity isn't an issue. But as merely an occasional homebrewer I'd rather get just around 20, even if the unit price is higher.

In this small scale category the best I found so far were a few sellers on Etsy. (It seems to be a thing for weddings.)

Does anyone have experiences or recommendations of custom coasters in the region?

What are some decent places to buy and sell single cards in the EU?

All alternatives are welcome! No need to get hung up on finding "the best one".

On a glance Cardmarket seems quite popular. Any opinions on that?

How do you arrange playsets of 4 cards in binders? Annoyingly the most natural binder size is 3x3 pockets, so you're forced to compromise one way or another.

Some options:

• Big 4x4 binder
• Small 2x2 binder
• Tall 2x4 sideways pocket binder
• Multiple cards in one pocket
• Creative layouts
• Only play singleton formats

6. Theme, maybe you're trying to collect all cards with airships on them, or with a particular mechanic
7. Type, all rat creature cards will be mine
8. Completing a set, collecting all cards from a particular set

What kinds of software tools are you using with your card collections?

How do you like to bind your arrow keys, and why?

Ergo boards don't typically have dedicated arrow clusters, so we're left to bind them on some alternate layers one way or another.

Here are two prevalent layouts, along with some initial thoughts:

Homerow

Binding them linearly to a homerow on some layer.

Pros

• Arrows directly underneath your fingertips

Cons

• Less intuitive
• Pinky may be weaker when going right repeatedly

Pyramid

Bind arrows in a traditional pyramid shape, likely based on a homerow as well.

Pros

• Familiar layout
• Extra key available for pinky, e.g. a tab might be handy

Cons

• Finger movement required for up arrow
• Takes space on the row above, which might matter if you'd like to have a full row of other things there

All split keyboards I'm aware of connect the halves with 3.5mm TRRS jacks, if not wireless. QMK and ZMK boards alike. Why is that?

A list of CIEM manufacturers in the EU

More precisely: custom molded in-ear monitor brands whose products can be ordered in the EU without invoking import-duties. So Norway is okay, but Switzerland and UK are not.¹

Outside EU brands that have manufacturing branches within the EU are okay too.

I've been learning good old Haskell, mostly liking it, but one thing I really dislike is the way exceptions are handled.

It's frustrating that any function can throw just about anything, and this isn't reflected in it's type. Too many times my seemingly sound programs have came crashing down at runtime because some dependency decided to throw an exception. I much prefer the Rust way of doing things where errors are communicated by just returning a value describing it, and panics are reserved for serious trouble (out of memory and the like).

So with that in mind, is Idris for me? I assume that all the usual FP stuff is fine, but how are the exceptions handled?
