You know the lady that developed the paint brush design on paper cups didn't make a dollar from it? The company did like an internal contest and she "won"

I don't think they're losing as much as they don't even know what "victory" is. I'm not sure what the goal was.

Those who are old enough, do you miss these days?
Yeah. I had A LOT of fun in the 90s in these labs. You could easily bypass the shitty security, I printed ASCii peniss to all the school printers, changed my grades sophmore year.
It wasn't even that I was gifted or anything, they were just incredibly ignorant and had no idea what they were doing to keep people out.

Why? You can buy an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 for like $1,300 with a 2 year warranty. A QHD oled 240hz screen, 32gig ram, 1tb ssd with room for a second, 275HX, 5070ti. And it's a laptop so you can just unplug it and do whatever wherever in one unit.
I know they're going for the super compact convenient thing but that's a hell of a premium for what they're selling.

I want S10/Ranger trucks back so bad. I'm not under the illusion of most truck owners that you actually use your truck for shit. I move a friend once a year, throw my bike in the back sometimes, random light stuff every so often, you know what 99% of people use a truck for.
I've really been on the fence about getting one of those Kai Trucks from Japan with 4x4 and a hydraulic bed. It's utterly phenomenal in practical use around town.

Yeah, call me a dick but I don't tip off percents. I refuse to give the server more just because the price of my food. I'm more likely to give a server who's actually working their ass of at an Applebees or random diner a bigger tip overall than an overpriced place.

At least 18 dead in France as much of Europe grapples with extreme heat
Reply in thread
They aren't having kids because France doesn't use air conditioners or hasn't typically in the past? It isn't a money thing, it's a "we don't need them and never have" thing and now they do. It's like buying a dryer in south east Asia, they don't use them and they're incredibly hard to even find one to buy.

Unexpected item in the bagging area!
So a few years ago Kohls fired most of their LP staff. Their thinking was "We still have theft, so let's save money by firing all LP and it will pay the difference of theft" SUPRISE! Theft went up 5x and now they can't hire the people back because they got new jobs. I'm sure they have the CEO a raise for that brilliant idea.

Technically almost all the models fall under that. They sold them with the promise they're eventually be able to be self driving, then said it was an exaggeration/marketing (puffery).

Well actually...
No, they can be. The problem is as a man as soon as you show any signs of it you're made fun of by women and not desirable. There's a reason guys always say "I'm fine" when asked how they feel, it's because some woman made fun of them an degraded them when they were honest and they learned their lesson.

Iranian star Parastoo Ahmadi reportedly sentenced to 74 lashes for singing without hijab
I don't have a problem with Islam, I know plenty of people I'd consider decent/good that are Muslim. That being said as an atheist who thinks all religions are insane, I think Islam isn't far from Christianity of 1000 years ago. Christianity used to be just as bloody and cruel, but it moved on to what we have as modern Christianity. Which isn't great, but nowhere near what it was. Islam as a whole hasn't moved on completely, which would be something akin to when the Catholic Church was in power in Europe.
Not spreading hate, Islam isn't evil or make you evil, I just think it needs to evolve with at least a tad common sense like Christianity.
