That's why no one with half a brain downloads the official Reddit app.

Should we change app names?
Reply in thread
Having a silly and unique name helps the app in peoples memory retention. Imagine if it was edgy but forgettable. Nobody will remember it and it won't stand out amongst the multitude of lemmy apps being developed at the moment.
Wewef also invoke curiosity.
"What the hell is a wefwef?"

YSK: If you're on Lemmy.World or Sh.itjust.works you should not subscribe to any Beehaw communities
Reply in thread
That's the thing. If someone defederates with you, and you wand a community on that instance. Then you are free to make the lost community in your instance. And if re-federation happens, both community can co exist without problems.
Also you can make an account on the instance that defederated. So you still can view the community you want.

What are the chances that the instance owners join together and buid a cartel or corporation. Then sells our data.

What's wrong with using a browser to view Lemmy? Seems like a lot of posts are about best apps for Lemmy. Am I missing out on something by not using an app?

That's what started me too. Then it snowballed as i tried every other app available to install. And now i cannot go back.

Boost for Lemmy is happening!
Reply in thread
As of the last update. It has surpassed Jerboa for me. So my ranking for best app at present is connect, jerboa and liftoff.
Jerboa is butter smooth if you are using an instance that is updated to 18. But unusable if you are in an instance that is still in version 17 (beehaw)

How to de-radicalize my mom's youtube algorithm?
Reply in thread
Any change should be done gradually i think. If the elder person notices that what shes watching is suddenly not the shows she subscribed to. Then she will clam up and refuse to watch the new shows unt OP bring back her "account".

Resurrecting High Weirdness on the Web? (StumbleUpon clones?)
I use cloudhiker and webtoll. It's fairly decent. Though occasionally I get time capsule sites, like personal blogs from the 2000s in geocities. Yes, try it and see with your own eyes.

On other instances in lemmy, other platforms on tlides, on squabbles.
They demand to change the dites to suit them. They demand, amongst many things. Karma, downvotes, porn
I've seen them shot down by other users many times.

One good thing for connect for lemmy is that they have a new feature to block an instance.
literally a whole instance. That's crazy.
