Early signs of SSD failure or a problematic installation?

I have been having some issues lately with fedora. This install was pretty reliable and never threw any errors until recently. I also noticed really slow read and write speeds one day. Like 2 times slower then a hard drive. But that went away after some use.

Later that day I updated and it wouldn't boot. Just a blank screen. I was able to Ctrl alt f1 into a login sceen and run dnf and update.

That fixed it.

Then comes the second issue. I was programming and all of a sudden my python file disappeared out of thin air! Which is funny because I remember saving it. So I downloaded a backed up copy from my nas, and it disappeared again.

I figured it was a problem with Kate so I reinstalled it and it worked and saved files without removing them. Then I shut the computer down when I was done and this morning it boots to a blank screen. And the initial fix I did a while ago doesn't work. I'm pretty stumped on it and I did capture some photos.

It gets stuck loading this process

Same here

Then it passes them and tries something else

Then we enter this never ending loop.

So what do you guys think? New install of fedora needed or do I need a new ssd?

OMNI1500LCDT ups LCD and battery surge no power

Got this UPS on eBay as a "working unit" long story short it was a scam.

Now the UPS passes power to the normal AC power strip it has. However the battery + AC power outlets don't pass voltage.

I also tested the LCD desplay and its getting a VERY low voltage

Now I am thinking this has something to do with it having no batteries, but that shouldn't be the case, how would it charge if they were to run out of power? Has anybody here had this issue with there UPS?

Unable to flash usb to balena etcher

Hello all, I'm trying to flash linux mint to a old thinkpad I'm refurbishing. However, when I go to flash the ISO to the USB, balena etcher throws the following error's

[23381:0729/101159.717484:ERROR:gl_surface_presentation_helper.cc(260)] GetVSyncParametersIfAvailable() failed for 1 times! [23340:0729/101202.577845:ERROR:browser_main_loop.cc(280)] GLib-GObject: invalid cast from 'GtkFileChooserNative' to 'GtkWidget' [23340:0729/101205.337371:ERROR:browser_main_loop.cc(280)] GLib-GObject: ../gobject/gsignal.c:2777: instance '0x37b801188b20' has no handler with id '5761' [23381:0729/101205.693383:ERROR:gl_surface_presentation_helper.cc(260)] GetVSyncParametersIfAvailable() failed for 2 times!

I would like to note I'm flashing this ISO from my main computer running fedora, and I installed balena etcher from an RPM, (Already tried the app image, but it seems that FUSE is acting up).

Thank you in advance!

Unable to transmit VHF (144.390) on uv-5r.

Hello y'all, I recently got a cheap uv-5r off of Amazon so I could use APRS in a off the grid location, however I'm encountering a large set of problems with the radio.

First off all, I already tried the 3 finger unlock, doesn't work. Second off, I can program channels into it with chirp, but the radio will only beep if you press ptt. Only channels 1-30 will transmit, however if you change any of it in chirp it seems to revert back to gmrs.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Anyone else having trouble installing nvida drivers on fedora 39?

Hello guys & gals, I recently distro hopped to fedora and I'm having problems getting the NVIDIA driver to properly work. I get a error when booting that says "Nvidia kernal module missing - falling back to noveau" I've tried the following;

https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/nvidia-kernel-module-missing-falling-back-to-nouveau-during-update/89801

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/711756/fedora-nvidia-kernel-module-missing-falling-back-to-nouveau

I should note this is a laptop and my GPU is a 1660Ti and I can toggle the iGPU from the bios.
