Pixel 8 screen flashing green

Hi there, I have had this phone for about 3 months now. It is great, but a few days ago the screen started acting up, flashing green until I shake the device or something like that. There is also a line along the right half of the screen which will flash occasionally and will be different colors.

I looked it up and people said it is a static electricity problem, but doing what they said didn't really fix anything.

I feel like it is possible that the ribbon cable might be loose, but don't want to take the phone apart and discover that the whole screen needs to be replaced without having one on hand.

Anyone familiar with this issue and how to fix it?

RG 351v To RG 40XXV: Worthwhile Upgrade?

Hi there, I have had an rg 351v for 5 years now and have had a great time with it. Recently though I decided to pick up an rg cube, because I absolutely adore pico8 games and it looks like screen quality has come a LONG way.

I decided to look into other vertical handhelds, and the RG 40XXV looks pretty sweet. That extra screen space would be really nice to have. And if the screen quality is similar to the cubexx it would be a massive enhancement. But I can't quite convince myself that it is really worth upgrading.

What do y'all think?

Power Cycling Quickly

So I grabbed this up at the thrift store today, when I got it back home I have it a quick clean and tried powering on, but it didn't seem to respond.

Turns out it is turning on, but it is turning off nearly as quickly. I tested the volts on the power supply briefly and it shows up as ten on my multimeter (States it is 9.6 V).

Any help would be appreciated. I do have a video showing what is going wrong if needed.

Keep display output when monitor "Disconnected"

I am using a laptop, with a cheaper monitor that only has one hdmi input. I have two devices that I want to use on this monitor, My laptop and my xbox series, so I got an hdmi switcher.

The xbox handles switching to and from it's input without a hitch, but my laptop can takes up to a minute to recognize the switch and display to the monitor, sometimes not recognizing it at all.

I was thinking that having the laptop continue to output the display whether or not it recognizes the monitor as disconnected would help make switching between them more seamless. Is there a way to achieve this?

I am using KDE and I have the "Do Nothing" option selected under close lid in power options.

Considering the Anycubic Kobra 3

Hi there, I recently started looking into multicolor 3d printers, and found the Anycubic Kobra 3. I am not interested in the Bambu Lab printers, never have been honestly I just didn't like the closed source nature of their products.

I have seen tons of mixed reviews on the printer, and am just wondering what y'all think. Keep in mind, my current printer is an Ender 3 V3 SE. Also, it seems to go on sale frequently, so I will be grabbing the Kobra at $350, not the $500 "MSRP"

Thanks in advance

Using RTX 2050 on Fedora kinoite

I am using Fedora Kinoite and quickly installed nvidia drivers, but when I launch an application with DRI_PRIME=1 it tries to use compute graphics. I had accidentally installed the cuda drivers along with the normal ones, but then removed them. I have tried with just the normal drivers, both normal and cuda, as well as only cuda.

If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated.

Crapped my system

This isn't me asking for help or anything, I already replaced it with fedora kinoite. I just felt like talking about this ridiculous venture of mine.

So a couple weeks ago I started hyper focusing on cities skylines, but played on my Xbox. I learned that mods and all kinds of fun custom content was available on PC so I tried to play on my system. Problem, my laptop has an rtx 2070, but I was running fedora kinoite and couldn't figure out how in the world to install nvidia drivers.

So after a bunch of searching around I give up and decide to try installing a "gaming" focused distro in the form of endeavour os. It was awful.

Maybe I am weird but the x11 rendering didn't feel good at all, the lack of some default applications, as well as a bunch of apps I didn't know the purpose of. (This one is my own fault since they have a kde spin, but I remembered why I didn't like gnome) and finally today it froze in the middle of an update and hard rebooted, no longer able to launch.

Worst part, I didn't do a lick of gaming on the thing cause I moved on to Borderlands 3

Trying to play BattleBit Remastered on fedora with nvidia drivers.

Hello, I am encountering a weird issue while trying to launch BattleBit. It gets through EAC just fine, and then suddenly throws an error saying, "could not switch to desired monitor resolution."

I am running on a laptop with a discrete rtx 2050, connected to a monitor with laptop display disabled, using the proprietary nvidia drivers on fedora 39 kinoite (Can't wait for fedora 40 to ship with NVK). I have tried multiple proton versions from beta, down to 6.06 at which point the game wouldn't launch at all. I also tried ProtonGE.

All of my other games work without issue.

Sidenote, this happens everytime I try to launch, except for once yesterday after a flatpak update which happened to include something with mesa, but for an unrelated application. I was able to play without issue for a few hours, but the issue cropped up again today.
