Baby dies after California mom leaves him in car to get lip filler on 101-degree day, police say

However, her 2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid is equipped with an automatic feature that turns the engine off if it has been left running for one hour while in park, police said. Police estimate that the engine turned off around 3 p.m. and the children were left without air conditioning until Hernandez returned around 4:30 p.m.>

Looks like she left the car on and it shut itself off. Still inexcusably stupid, but it wasn't quite as brain dead as just deciding to leave them in a hot car in the middle of summer.

Her child died because of her stupidity and the over-engineering of the 2022 Toyota Corolla. c/fuckcars

Exclusive: Evidence of cell phone surveillance detected at anti-ICE protest

One thing I'm noticing in these comments, and in a lot of comments threads is the "well yeah, duh. Everyone already knew that" and while I'm definitely in that camp and have done that myself, I am starting to wonder if there is danger there.

Like, this is a significant breach of privacy and trust and the kind of thing that we should be up in arms about. But we already assume the government is doing the worst movie villain shit imaginable, so when we have evidence of it we shrug it off as just another Tuesday.

Yeah, waters wet. We should still be alarmed when we see a puddle of it somewhere it shouldn't be. (I don't know if that analogy actually tracks but I'm sticking with it).

Not a parent, but I couldn't imagine leaving an infant unattended for that amount of time, let alone in a car in a parking lot somewhere. I'm by no means excusing it, but things are fucked and every day the world seems to be getting dumber. I'm picking at the scraps of intelligence I can. Like yeah, she was dumb, but at least she THOUGHT there was AC in the car.

Idk man, things ain't great and Im trying to find the humanity. It's getting tougher to do.

Ceasefire is violated hours after it begins

Yeah I don't mean to detract from the other atrocities taking place. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if that's half the intent behind a lot of this.

What a world we live in where I'm locked in a moral dilemma because my country and president are the baddies, so I want to see them fail, but in this case that failure means yet another war stretches on in this decade and hundreds of thousands of people will die.

Like, on the one hand, Trump has egg on his face. But on the other hand, genocide.

I was going to make a joke like "I wanna get off this ride now" but everything's so fucked, that feels wrong and disengenous. Humor as a coping mechanism is getting less and less effective by the tweet.
