Report – Unsafe: Meta Fails to Moderate Extreme Anti-trans Hate Across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads | GLAAD - might be a reason to defederate from Threads
To add to that. Meta has been found to have used a man in the middle attack to gain acces to data from competing services. Intercepting and selling that user data before it got encrypted. They literally are evil. Do not let them in.

Germany Throws a Spanner in Works of the EU Supply Chain Law, Human Rights Watch Says
Ah... Good old FDP doing FDP things where the holy economy is worth more than the lives of countless people and animals in pursuit of profits. Even seemingly going so far to potentially ruin the global ecosystem for everyone because earning lots of money wasn't enough and they wanted to earn all the money.
Fortunately by the looks of it they won't get voted back into a position of power again. Unfortunately however it looks like a different but equally bad (and worse) party will more than replace them.

Nein, niemals.

UND MAN DESHALB NOCH MEHRFACH DARAUF SCHAUT OB DAS GEHT ODER NICHT! AUSSERDEM GILLT ES NUR FÜR NEU! FAHRZEUGE!

Apparently management positions. The amount of people in such positions that are full of themselves and are hitting terribad descicions at the same time, all the time, never to improve on that. Is terribly high.
Yeah sure, let's not involve the construction department of the company with that big move you are "planning" for half a year now. Also only realize you need tons of work done before you can even start that move a month ahead of the due date. Then do a terrible job of getting that sorted. And only have the most basic of time plans for the actual move ready a couple days before they are supposed to happen. Make that time window awfully short because you also need those machines to produce again because you failed to plan extra production to create a buffer for intermediate products. Then go ahead and slash that awfully short time plan on the first day because surprise, surprise... You don't have a buffer of intermediate products and you really need those machines up and running again so that you can push actual finished products out the door. Also hope for the best which is that the machines just start up and run again... Yes as if that ever worked with complicated machines that are also old now and could just fail completely just from getting moved.
Grade A plan...

So, Benefits: Being able to play their games. Drawbacks : a lot, and it seems like they are not getting talked about a ton.
Here is the deal: Riot doesn't trust you that you will interact with their entertainment software in a fair way witb other users of the same software. So they demand that you install a kernel level anti Cheat which gives them full control of your system. And then they demand that you trust them not to abuse that power. Because if you try to figure out if you can trust them... They will ban you. It's the equivalent of having someone demand of you to take NSFW Pictures whenever, wherever, however much they like and telling you that they won't share those.
Yes they can decrypt everything from your encrypted drive if they wanted to, so not even an encrypted file system that windows can't even read natively will save you. Remember that they can read and write any file they want to so they can get to your decryption key, figure out your file system and get windows to read if they wanted to. It's the same with kernel level cheat developers that likely charge money for their cheats. Heck if they wanted, they could use your machine to mine crypto if they wanted to. Or ransom it with encryption of their own. Or get you in legal trouble in so many other ways like putting incriminating files on your machine.
In short they don't trust you and want full acces while demanding that you trust them with no way of knowing if you can. Which means you can't have privacy with a kernel lever anti Cheat or rather rootkit because that is what it actually is.
Also consider who owns riot games. And think about how protected or in that case rather how not protected your data is.
And then ask if you want to give a third party that level of control over a machine you own and paid for.

‘They call us Nazis’: inside the wealthy German town where the far right is on the rise

No way around it. Actions speak louder than words do but in that case or rather cases both point rather clearly to them being... Nazis.
Don't want to be called a nazi? Fine... Don't be a nazi and there is no reason to call you one.

MMOs 'don't give people the tools to build community anymore,' says EverQuest 2 creative director
That is what happens when the thing that matters to everyone is to get stuff done and fast. The general difficulty got adjusted to the point where people never have a reason to cooperate in the open world, crafting got relegated to the side lines and is usually not worthwhile enough and even then people would rather have alternative characters that do the few dependencies there are instead of relying on someone else. or there is an NPC that solves that issue outright. Then there are the tools that automate finding a group for the things where you absolutely need a group and you bet no one interacts in those groups... Oh no, it's rush to the end cause everyone got different things to do including so many daily quests. No time for even banter.
You want community? Great, slow down the game and see if that helps. Sure you may loose players that way that liked the pure convenience but if players find that they have time they may just start interacting.
Me personally, well I stopped playing MMOs entirely simply because the magic that was community got killed off exactly like that. Why play in an otherwise boring and dead world when the big promise of the genre is to play in a shared world WITH other players.

A wolf killed the EU president’s precious pony - then the fight to catch the predator began

Indeed, I recently had a discussion about just that with a family relative who is very adamant against wolves but then started complaining about all those beavers and deer over population. You can't make it up. Is it a good idea to control that wolf population? Probably yes, can that wolf population help with solving other issues? Probably yes.
