So, I have a question on Motorola Mobility. The company is Chinese-owned, but US-based. This means it's subject to the invasive CLOUD Act, and that US kangaroo courts even can require parent companies to provide that data.

Android also would lock down Android from september 2026, meaning that vendor-independent downloading (sometimes falsely named 'sideloading') would be rendered impossible, and all apps must be from verified developers, for which they'd have to give identification, iirc.

So how would a custom OS like e/ or GOS be affected by this? How would the latter ensure it's not subject to the CLOUD Act? Or not affected at all downstream due to the locking down?

Sure, Motorola would qualify for the hardware specs needed for GOS, but legally considering, aren't there issues? I'm considering to get a new phone that would be good privacywise, but I don't like the thought of depending on the USA or China. It almost feels like a fed honeypot that way. Ethics is important to me.

I've thought about getting a Jolla phone with Sailfish instead, since that's practically Linux. Or a Fairphone with e/, but from what I hear there are concerns surrounding privacy.

So I've no idea what to do. My ideal would've been a Fairphone with hardware suitable for GOS, and then having GOS on it, but alas. If there's another option for phones also, I'd like to know.

Hierbij stalen ze borden en braken ze die, de borden die demonstranten gebruikten om zichzelf tegen politiegeweld te verweren. Vervolgens zijn ze een metalen brug op geduwd, in het nauw, en heeft de politie actief intimiderend gesproken. Dit terwijl de politie openlijk met enkel de pro-Israëlitische terreurgroep spreekt, in plaats van met vreedzame Palestijnse demonstranten, die wellicht opgepakt zijn.

Dit is staatsterrorisme door de politie. Onthoudt: de Politie arresteerde SLECHTS DRIE mensen in Loosdrecht. De politiek, inclusief Yesilgöz, weigert het terrorisme te noemen. Dit waar mensen die zich uitspreken tegen genocide, als ongedierte worden behandeld.

The Uštase were a fascist puppet regime of Nazi Germany. Under their totalitarian regime, a persecution followed of all who were deemed state enemies.

About 500-1,500 children died in there. The communist-led Yugoslav Partisans liberated the camp and gave the children food, helping them escape.

Collaborators who did daily administration of the camp include the Company of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, which still exists today.

On 26 August 2010, the 68th anniversary of the partial liberation of the camp by the Partisans, children who died at the camp were commemorated in a ceremony at a monument in the Jastrebarsko cemetery. It was attended by mainly members of the Union of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of the Republic of Croatia. No journalists, locals, politicians or officials attended the memorial, aside from the local deputy mayor, Aleksandar Stanić, who attempted to claim that the locals "have nothing to do with what happened in the camps".

Some survivors, such as Milan Vujić, survived thanks to Croatian families and inhabitants who opposed the fascist regime, helping them to regain strength.

Remember that no matter one's nationality, there is good in people - to fight for liberation of the oppressed, to be oneself. To cooperate and fighting fascism: that is the duty of all.

On this day in 1982, the Salvadoran army assassinated a group of Dutch journalists and FMLN soldiers in violation of international law. The murders caused international outrage, and the colonel who ordered the attack fled to the U.S.

The four journalists had arrived in El Salvador on February 24th, 1982 to report on the ongoing Salvadoran Civil War, fought between the right-wing military junta ruling the country with U.S. support, and the left-wing Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN).

As part of their work, the journalists visited Mariona prison in San Salvador to interview and film prisoners accused of belonging to the guerrilla forces. The videos filmed by the journalists included shots of prisoners' scars, which the prisoners said were the result of torture.

This work earned the ire of the military, and the journalists were interrogated by the Director-General of the Treasury Police on March 11th. Despite being advised to leave by Jan Pierre Lucien Schmeitz, another Dutch journalist, as well as their FMLN contacts, the group decided to stay to complete their work.

On March 17th, 1982, soldiers from the Atonal Battalion, acting on orders from Colonel Reyes Mena, assassinated the journalists while they were traveling with a group of five FMLN soldiers. All but one of the FMLN guerillas survived.

The deaths caused international outrage, including mass protests in the Netherlands. The Dutch government conducted an investigation which uncovered the fact that U.S. soldiers were present at the base the day of the massacre.

The 1993 Report of the UN Truth Commission on El Salvador concluded that the murders were a targeted assassination by the state (not an "accident", as the Salvadoran President claimed), and were in violation of international law. The report was aided by the testimony of "Martin", the lone survivor of the attack.

Salvadoran Col. Reyes Mena, whom the U.N. concluded ordered the massacre, fled to the United States after the incident. Reyes Mena was discovered in Virginia and confronted at his home by the Dutch organization ZEMBLA in 2018.

Why is Sigrid Kaag on the Board of Peace?

The Gaza Executive Board of the Board of Peace has three European members: Sigrid Kaag, Tony Blair and Nickolay Mladenov.

As a former diplomat (career at the United Nations) and politician (deputy prime minister of the Netherlands from 2022-2024 and leader of a centrist liberal party from 2020-2023), Sigrid Kaag's decision has de facto brought a semblance of respectability to this Board that makes it now easier for other European countries to join.

Am I the only one who is perplexed by this decision by Sigrid Kaag?

I'm not sure if this idea list could be improved or not, but might be a fun challenge for the community. It makes me think, maybe HelloGames should add in a possibility for 'small' Gas Giants, so that those can be generated in systems with more planets.

And I don't know if there are non-Dead planets without flora and fauna, but they totes should be a thing.

The mountain is so high that it reaches the clouds. But what's even more special is that for some reason, it's one of like a very few mountains on the planet - it's freestanding. You can actually even see the planet's curvature with it.

I think that if you were to build a base there, you could probably reach for the sky.

Een zwarte dag.

Een vriendelijke herinnering dat Fleur Agema, Faber, en Bosma, die allen discriminerende en nazi-sympathieke uitspraken hebben gedaan, nu officiële posten hebben.

Iedere Nederlander heeft de maatschappelijke plicht om weerstand te bieden aan een kabinet dat de individuele vrijheden, gelijkwaardigheid en broederschap nog verder uitholt dan de kabinetten sinds Wim Kom hebben gedaan.

De loyaliteit van de Nederlander ligt niet bij onderdrukking, maar bij vrijheid, zonder hypocrisie. Geen van deze partijen wordt daarin teruggevonden;

VVD: heeft de huizenmarkt nog verder gesloopt, en blies het kabinet op terwijl het er een uitstekende positie in had, alleen maar omdat de CU niet echtgenoot van echtgenoot wilde scheiden en de kinderen traumatiseren.

PVV: zegt dat immigranten kut zijn, terwijl Wilders zelf aan een illegale Israëlische kolonie in Palestijns gebied meewerkte, een Hongaar huwde, en zei dat alle moslims terroristen waren (zijn alle christenen en agnosten dat ook dan?). Stemt vrolijk mee met de VVD qua economisch beleid. (De SP had beter gewezen).

BBB: werkt samen met terroristische boeren die de deuren van normale politici inramden. Wil wel miljardensubsidies maar niets aan het klimaat doen, dat ze en haar aanhang zelf verwoest.

NSC: hypocriet. Zei eerst zich voor gelijke rechten uit te spreken van minderheden, en weigerde met PVV samen te werken. Werkt vervolgens samen met PVV en laat gelijke rechten als een baksteen vallen, puur voor giftige olie, staal en kolen.

Ik hoop dat die Nederlanders blij zijn, wetende dat ze moedwillig hun medeburger onderdrukken. Ik hoop vooral dat ze zich niet tegen hun eigen zere been stoten.

ONTHOUDT: DE VERANTWOORDELIJKHEID VAN ALLE ELLENDE LIGT BIJ NIEMAND ANDERS DAN WILDERS EN ZIJN BONDGENOTEN. Onthoudt dit voor de komende jaren.
