Those of you that back your vehicle into parking spots, why do you do it?

  1. People/oncoming cars/kids are more likely to be in the road than in the spot I’m parking
  2. I have better visibility when I’m facing forward than when I’m in reverse

Therefore I would rather reverse into the spot where people/cars/kids are least likely to be and drive forward into the place people/cars/kids are most likely to be. I personally almost always back in to be safer towards pedestrians and avoid getting hit by other cars.

Big Car = Safe

Don’t worry! We’ll go through the process of revising safety ratings to include people outside the car just for auto manufacturers to switch their advertisements to say “five star passenger safety rating” instead 😀

First day commuting by bike!

I mean the cardboard box wasn’t secure so it kinda flopped all over the place on my way in. I don’t plan on having to carry that again though and the ride back was much smoother. I’m lucky enough that my whole commute is multi-use trails so besides half a dozen crosswalks I don’t deal with cars much.

Went well! Definitely planning on doing it again tomorrow. It’s about 8 miles one way but generally pretty flat and all on paved trails. I end up on the W&OD trail at the end of my ride which is some pretty sweet infrastructure by American standards.

Haha I would but the friend I bought the bike from is definitely is a part of those circles. I don’t know if he would forgive me if I took his custom built bike and immediately slapped a kickstand on it. That or I’ll just do it and never tell.
