Thoughtful boss [Work Chronicles]

I just say it'll be done by Wednesday and next time act like a professional and give some time.

Some other guy I know will get it done, book a crazy amount of overtime, mail the thing and stay home from that overtime until Thursday.

And one other guy would just call the manager at weird hours the entire weekend asking for classifications.

I know some anarchistic people, okay.

It's not much better in the rest of the West too. Turns out that building a society where money and career determines your social status and doing unpaid work like taking care of a family and raising children is not valued at all and even very expensive makes people choose to have less or no children.

People of course do want children, but those that do very often will choose one or two children, below replacement rate.

The Batshit Crazy Story Of The Day Elon Musk Decided To Personally Rip Servers Out Of A Sacramento Data Center

He got lucky nothing disappeared.

At a previous work place they rounded up a few employees to move stuff from one office to the new office. That ended up with a few monitors less than they started with. They couldn't ask who took it because they never wrote down who they rounded up for the move.

And that's how companies end up with a bunch of silly regulations how you're not allowed to move any hardware to the next room

Republican panics because of Republicans

No, they don't. We had Brexit. It was a smörgåsbord of stupid like that.

"We want freedom of movement cancelled so EU folks can't come in here, "followed by "What do you mean we don't have freedom of movement and can't just live in Spain?"

"All immigrants gone!" followed by "why are there no cheap immigrants anymore for working in the field and drive trucks?"

"Close the borders!" and "Why is there suddenly this long line and why do we need custom checks and passports?"

"After we made it more difficult for foreigners to come here, we have less tourists. Somebody do something!"

"When we said you can't fish here, we meant we can still fish over there."

"Yeah, I know we cancelled all cooperation but we really would like the subsidies to continue."

You can keep going. There were enough predictions that this was exactly what would happen, it was ignored in emotional flurry, ideologies and name calling. Of course there is a lot of "why didn't anyone warn us?" afterwards. I conclude they're not really thinking, just mostly reacting emotionally and going along with the peer group who has a very high "F U I got mine" content.

The Onion: America's Finest News Source

They did. That sub had several previous trips to test and with other passengers before they took the rich people. However because of the composite hull, you had a buildup of damage internally and it only collapsed on the rich guy run. And they buildup of damage was exactly what experts warned about.

Small wins adds up

The petrosexual male, who can only get sexual aroused by loud rumbling engines and black sooty exhaust. It's a well known fact they have lost the ability to get it up for a woman a long time ago. Be very careful when entering they're garage as you can find many fluids in the floor, and not all are from the vehicle.

Night owls and early birds

It's why you keep calling the early bird people at 8pm for work stuff and giving them shit for not working late until they get the message that them calling you at 8am is just as annoying.

It's biology. When winter comes and we switch daylight saving times again, I wake up an hour earlier according to the clock while walking up at the same sun time the entire year.

The new system to replace Reddit coins and awards is here. You got out at the right time.

Okay. Each sub gets fresh points according to it's size, activity and admin preference.

Every month your karma in a sub gets converted into these new points. These points can then be used to tip others, buy animated emojis or badges to show off. They are also used to make your vote count more in polls.

Mods can give commenters fines for misbehaving and make posts earn less points.

Sounds very capitalist. I guess it makes everybody go to a few big subs, as little subs don't earn anything. And those big subs are overrun by a few big players who floated to the top and stay there because of their influence. Little subs get overrun by alt-right as the fines mods can give there are just pocket money.

But that's what you get when ideology and dictators rule.
