Linux Desktop Share keeps increasing, 3.13% now. Narrowing the gap to ChromeOs 3.24%
I don't care about linux taking over the world or anything but I just want the market share high enough so companies will port their shit over

“Reddit cannot survive without its moderators. It cannot.” - The Verge
I'll never understand the people who are hell bent on trying to get reddit back. No matter what they won't have a say in anything that happens, own anything, or even have a voice. I'm glad people are finally moving to an open source alternative.

Lemmy is so good right now for no particular reason
For me it's the freedom. No big corp is over my shoulder, No one person is in control. Even if the admin's for lemmy.world go crazy or something I can just make another account on another instance. I'm actually planning on running my own instance but I'm broke so it'll probably for just my friends and I, running on some office PC I find for cheap on Ebay

Is Lemmy THE reddit alternative for you? Are you thinking about moving somewhere else?
I've been wanting to move to lemmy for a while it just wasn't active enough so I stayed on reddit. Fuck reddit and fuck proprietary software

It bugs me that people will bitch about privacy all day but won't do anything about it. Most people just go

Probably because tech enthusiasts are the only ones that care about their privacy so they use open source alternative before anyone else

NTFS turns 30 years old today! I hear it's still in use by some crufty old legacy operating systems 😁
This might sound ignorant but that's cause I am. Why doesn't windows just use ext4, btrfs, XFS, or something open source. They wouldn't have to worry about developing it so it'd be a load off their chest and they could get really good features that even NTFS doesn't have. Well maybe not with ext4 but with btrfs

Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?
My girlfriend thinks it’s dumb and I’m wasting my time because Google maps and Apple maps and Bing maps exists but she just doesn’t understand open source.
Time to move on, she ain't the one. /s
