Means to privately connect to my home server other than Tailscale?

I believe the back to home VPN from MikroTik is also wireguard. At least it is on mine. No idea if you can use a different VPN solution with it.

My home server was a totally justified purchase

I would regret the power usage of running 20 small hard drives as opposed to a few big ones but the cost of electricity is definitely still smaller than the cost of big hard drives

Please help me stop my baby from crying because kodi keeps buffering
I'm not sure about how this works in kodi but in jellyfin the client might request a different resolution which causes the server to try and reencode the provided file on the fly. In my case my server isn't fast enough for this which leads to constant buffering

Password Managers
I use KeepassXC which is free and open-source. The passwords are stored as an encrypted file on your own system. No servers or businesses involved.
Personally I put mine in onedrive so it is synced between all of my devices though, so I guess there is still a server involved in that case

AI coders think they’re 20% faster — but they’re actually 19% slower
I talked to Microsoft Copilot 3 times for work related reasons because I couldn't find something in documentation. I was lied to 3 times. It either made stuff up about how the thing I asked about works or even invented entirely new configuration settings

What technology will disappear in the next 10 years?
Reply in thread
Honestly I would say it might go the other way with laptops disappearing and being replaced with tablets.
The operating systems and software on tablets is getting ever more capable even for productivity stuff. Add to that newer generations growing up while using mostly smartphones and maybe sometimes a computer and I believe if having to decide they would choose a tablet over a laptop. In general the line between laptops and tablets is getting a bit blurry with windows based tablet PC's and tablets that come with a keyboard cover.

Synology could bring “certified drive” requirements to more NAS devices
Welp, guess I definitely won't be buying synology again in the future. I was planning to transition to a rackmounted NAS at some point and synology is overpriced in that category anyway but this puts the final nail in for me.
It's a shame because I quite liked the simplicity of their UI.

Hobby electronics?
Need a small part? Better buy 10 in case you break one and because it's only marginally more expensive than getting one. Now repeat for every project you do

Fun fact in case you didn't know, the green belt you are referring to is the leftover area of what was once the city wall. You can still kinda see it in the star like shape of the green belt and there are a few old fortifications left for sightseeing.

I have also heard that you can bind your hypothetical torrent client to your hypothetical VPN network interface meaning it would be unable to even send out any data if the VPN was not connected.
Or in the case of docker use a prepackaged VPN+Torrent container or pipe all container network traffic through a VPN container like gluetun
