You can now change your username on Loops!
The app itself still won’t let me. Perhaps on via the web? I’ll check again cause I’m a dolt and misspelled my user name when I signed up.

Trump MAGA supporters crash Harris’ rally ... and she smokes them with a great one-liner
"Oh, I think you guys are at the wrong rally. You meant to go to the smaller one down the street."
Expert level burn.

(Serious) Why are "rednecks" not considered an ally of the urban leftist?
Mostly just decades of brainwashing of the culture war. I’m an urban leftist who moved from a big city to a very small one in the rural countryside and the sheer amount of leftist ideals that get spouted by conservative voters I hear regularly is staggering. They have no clue that what they want from life is all left of center.

I signed on here at Lemmy.world on the eve of the blackout. I haven't been using Reddit since and I couldn't be happier about it.

Half the population is below average intelligence. As a politician you have to speak in a way that is both to the point and emotionally charging to get your point across as simply as possible. It's the best way to actually reach the most people. You also have to repeat yourself ad nauseam. It’s just a pitfall of the job. Simultaneously, they have to treat people like idiots and not treat people like idiots.
It also works. Remember all those signs in yards this past election cycle that said “Trump: lower taxes, Harris: higher taxes” and “Trump: good for America, Harris: bad for America”? They were wrong, and simple and they worked.

A note on Universal Monk:
HOW do you post here 1.9k times in two months? I have like 7 posts in over a year and I feel somewhat active.
I’m not complaining about any decisions mods have made, I’m legitimately asking cause that seems crazy. 32 posts a day is a LOT.

Ex Prime Minister Boris Johnson turned away from polling station for not having ID

Ooof. I ended up digging into the article. So this clown passes a law requiring photo IDs to vote, neglects to add military veteran ID cards to the approved list, then forgets his own ID when going to cast his own ballot? Seems dumb.

Trump says he will seek to eliminate daylight saving time
This was on the docket to be voted on in 2023 (i think, could have been 2022) and it never made it to the floor. Why? His cronies. They just let it fall by the side, probably so they could do it now. I’m so sick and tired of this shit show if a govt. Failed fucking state.
