Loops has a Matrix channel now
For those of you like me that don't like Discord
For those of you like me that don't like Discord
Did you try it ? How was it ? Tell us everything you think of this new Fediverse platform!
https://loops.video/Open linkView original on lemmy.worldIt looks like the latest version is 1.0.2.4 on the Play store (congrats on releasing it there btw), but how do I stay up-to-date if I refuse to use Google's service?
So I know (and agree with many here) that TikTok has arguably gotten worse since the U.S. acquisition — algorithm shifts, monetization pressure, more corporate vibes, etc.
But that got me thinking…
What if someone (or a group) made a fan-run, unofficial TikTok account dedicated entirely to Loops?
Not an official account — just a community-driven one focused on:
What Loops is
How it works (Fediverse connection, decentralization, etc.)
Why it’s different from TikTok
Benefits for creators
Benefits for viewers
Tutorials / onboarding walkthroughs
Showcasing great Loops creators
I’ve seen random individuals casually mention/promote Loops on TikTok, but I’ve never seen an account that’s fully Loops-focused.
Kind of like how Neptune or Skylight (other TikTok competitors) have TikTok accounts — except theirs are officially run marketing accounts. What I’m imagining is something more grassroots and community-powered.
Questions:
Do you think this would actually help spread awareness of Loops?
Or would promoting a Fediverse platform on TikTok defeat the point?
Would people here be interested in contributing clips / scripts / ideas?
Would this need coordination from Dansup, or should it stay fully independent?
Curious what you all think. Bad idea? Good idea?
I'm curious — are there any popular creators who have crossed over to Loops yet?
Or even just really good creators native to Loops that you’d recommend following?
By “popular,” I mean:
Established creators from platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram Reels, etc.
Or creators with a strong following / recognizable brand who’ve started posting on Loops.
But I’m also very interested in:
Smaller Loops-native creators making great content
Fediverse-friendly creators who are experimenting outside the big corporate platforms
Idea: Community-Maintained Creator List?
It might be useful for this community to maintain an updating list of notable creators on Loops — especially if/when bigger names join.
Maybe:
A pinned thread?
A wiki-style post?
Or a periodically refreshed megathread?
Or even perhaps a Wordpress / Ghost / etc website, that's linked in this community.
(That way, users who don't use Lemmy / aren't familiar with / Fediverse newbies aren't required to download / join Lemmy, just for the list.)
That way, when someone asks “Who should I follow on Loops?”, we have a ready resource.
It could include:
Creator's Username
Loops handle
Content category
Whether they’re established elsewhere (optional)
Link(s) to their other platforms (if relevant)
This might:
Help new users find quality content faster
Encourage cross-platform creators to join
Give early Loops creators more visibility
What are your recommendations? Who’s worth following right now?
And do you think a running list maintained by this Lemmy community would be helpful?
I have content on a mastodon account I would like to replicate over. I couldn't see how to get an API key in Loops. Is this possible yet?
Is there a list of supported formats and maximum file sizes?
I've tried three times to upload videos and while there is no error message they do not show up in my profile, and appear to never be posted.
Hello everyone!
I'm the developer of Loops and I have some exciting news to share! Recently, we shipped the beta version of the Loops server with ActivityPub support and an oAuth backed API.
We're now preparing the beta release of our redesigned app that is much faster, feature packed and resolves many issues with the previous app (especially on Android).
It's open source, follow along here: https://github.com/joinloops/loops-expo
I'll be sharing a big update soon, stay tuned!
The video optimization goes in 10s (20% - 40% - 80% etc) and the displays "Error". the video is 2.5mb

The website stated that I can expect an email within 48 hours, however it has been past a month and I haven't received any updates. I cannot cancel the process nor delete my account on what I signed up for at the moment.
I'd like to download and resize a video from loops.video to send to a friend, but I don't know how. What is the best way to do this?
This release bring some nice enhancement :
And fix the login issue some people have been encountering!
It's still not perfect, but we getting there :)
You can download the APK named app-release.apk from this post's link.
https://github.com/joinloops/loops-app/releases/tag/v1.0.0.13Open linkView original on lemmy.worldCreated an account, I am able to login on web (though there's really nothing there). I downloaded the apk and installed the app, but the login button just goes to an error page...
What is going on with loops.video? Once in a while I follow a link to there and it plays the video no problem, on a nice minimalist web page with no distractions... and then I wonder what other videos might exist and there seems to be no way to find out. It just plays that one it started with, looping forever. What am I missing?
Does anyone know if pixelfed integration is on the table? Would love it if I could cross post my videos to my pixelfed account. Videos not able to be over 15MB is really a big drawback for pixelfed. But a loops-pixelfed bridge would solve on that
