I can go swimming with my wallet

Both Chlorine and Salt Water can destroy a credit card with repeat or prolonged exposure.

So I definitely wouldn't recommend that, even if you carry a wallet.

I was riding a lime scooter, crashed and broke my phone. If I didn’t have my wallet I would have been stuck.

Which is why id suggest a phone case with a credit card slot. Still have the physical card for an emergency.

If I was much older I wouldn't even count as a millennial, and Im genuinely shocked by some of these replies.

People don't seem to realize

  1. Phone cases can have credit card holders in them

  2. Some states now have virtual driver's licenses

  3. if your phone breaks or whatever all your data is accessible from another device and freeze all your accounts if for some reason you skipped #1.

There really is no need for a wallet anymore.

It ain't gonna be any better.

Don't know if you live near DC, but we currently got one hell of a heat wave, something like 103 or so.

And the thing about DC is, its always fucking humid in the summer, making the heat worse (I think the "feels like" today got over 114)

This weekends gonna rain too. And for this area heat + rain is about the most miserable combination possible even with normal summer heat

They announced earlier today the public is banned from attending some of the things happening tomorrow (like the rehearsals for Saturday) because the heats not safe.

This place is likely gonna stay pretty much dead...

Truthfully when I used to carry a wallet, I lost it and or my cards significantly more times than ive ever lost my phone.

But thats in part because my phone is usually linked to another device, so I'll notice if I get more than a few feet from it cause the other device's disconnect.

Worth noting Athenian citizens were only about 10% of the population.

Of them, only maybe 1/6th could actually serve, as military or any other citizens too far away from the Ekklesia were excluded.

Also worth noting the Ekklesia was limited in voting on items presented to them by the Boule, which was basically a smaller council made up entirely of rich folks

Athenian democracy wasnt as democratic as advertised

There'd still be a de facto distant restriction. As well as a job restriction

You still gotta go to DC to be able to vote. Which also means you have to be able to afford a place to live in DC

More importantly, how many people do you think are both willing and able to put their chosen career on hold for 2-6 years just because they get told they have to go do something else

I suspect most people would refuse

Same issues still apply.

Still got the same issue about people not wanting to give up their jobs.

How many people live that close to their state capital?

Some states you can easily be 6 to 12 hours away.

Heck thats true at county too. Some countys are bigger than states.

And even local government isnt a guarantee.

My local government is the county government. We don't really have town mayors or councils or anything like that.

And im not living out in some super rural area. I live in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the US...Just so happens outside the city limits of the major city by a few minutes .

The Athenian system worked because it was essentially limited and only covered a compatibly small area.

Its not really a usable model

If Steam were to shut down tomorrow how much money would you have lost in total on games / DLC ??

According to Steam, ive spent $1440 dollars over 13 years.

Thing is, I have 930 games.

And while I pride myself on only buying during sales or other massive discounts, an average of $1.54 per game seems extremely low to me.

Nor does the fact that even when factoring in my supposed savings, i would have spend only 4.76 per game if not on sale especially since I have a fair number of AAA games on the account.

So im not sure steam is tracking me accurately.
