I really don't get the anti AC fraction

Reply in thread

I’m in the same boat and it really is a predicament. The winter is significantly better but sometimes it’s so cold that if I don’t work harder my fingers and feet start hurting. Then oops I worked too hard and now I’m sweating which is making my feet even colder.

bring back third places

That was always been a rule even 20 years ago. If you are designated as a car rider/walker you can’t just change it on a whim. Parents need to call the front office and change it. Yes being both is an option but the front office needs to know.

I can assume it’s to stop predators from telling kids if they ride their bike to school tomorrow they’ll give them money or something. Also if there’s no plan in place no one will know if you get injured or lost. Having an adult waiting for you or waiting on a call to tell them you made it home can be the difference between life and death sometimes.

As a corporate guy, I’ll let y’all in on a secrete: a lot of the bullshit policies that you hear about are meant to piss people off and increase turnover. It’s an attempt to get rid of the bottom of the barrel and keep the people in the middle in a state of fear or discomfort to maintain productivity.

Why ends up happening is you skim the top employees and are left with the bottom of the barrel that performs even worse because they are in a state of fear and discomfort.

After seeing Wi-Fi network named “STINKY,” Navy found hidden Starlink dish on US warship

Here’s the meat and potatoes of the article.

In 2023, they decided that the best way to deal with the problem was to secretly bolt a Starlink terminal to the "O-5 level weatherdeck" of a US warship.

They called the resulting Wi-Fi network "STINKY"—and when officers on the ship heard rumors and began asking questions, the leader of the scheme brazenly lied about it. Then, when exposed, she went so far as to make up fake Starlink usage reports suggesting that the system had only been accessed while in port, where cybersecurity and espionage concerns were lower.

Rather unsurprisingly, the story ends badly, with a full-on Navy investigation and court-martial.

So people better understand: Pornhub did not get banned by law. There is a law that requires porn sites to verify age with IDs in many southern states. Instead of complying Pornhub location banned themselves.

That's nice that they got a rejection letter though instead of being ghosted

As a manager I’ll give you their thought process and from a mangers perspective it makes sense (albeit still wrong) and you DEFINITELY wouldn’t say it to the applicant.

Managers want robots that do their job and don’t call them out on their bullshit or question the decisions they make or their salary. That way they don’t have to give raises or address issues. When you ask questions on the interview that lead them to believe you are educated and stand up for yourself they don’t want to introduce you into their work bubble of other robots or it would start a rebellion. Hope this helps.
