The ole Morning Constitutional

I've made a couple of disgusting posts with no explanation because they were funny, but I gotta come clean with this one - I live like a bit of a pig, yes, but I also work as a maintenance man for a local housing authority, and regularly encounter some fairly rank situations. Some of them are due to regular poor housekeeping, some mental illness, and some because of addiction. All of them are interesting, I think.

I have a couple others that I think I can share without breaking any laws.

It should be noted that the worst of these date from just after COVID-19; there was an eviction moratorium, and people literally stopped caring about housekeeping notices and warnings. The typical apartment looks NOTHING like this nowadays.

*UPDATED* - I went to a maintenance conference for work and an entomologist gave me some Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches

EDIT - We have confirmed ootheca! I'm reporting my own post.

The cockroaches themselves aren't really all that dull, if you ask me, but the way they came into my care feels like classic dull man happenstance.

I got 2 males and 3 females; I've separated them, but I'm pretty sure two of the females are already impregnated.

Fun facts about Hissing Cockroaches:

-They can reproduce every 2 months, but usually no more than 3 times per year.

-They give birth to 10-40 live babies (called nymphs) at a time.

-They do this by laying an egg case (called an ootheca) INSIDE THEIR OWN ABDOMEN. After a few weeks, the case ruptures and they push it and their babies out the backside of their abdomen.

-While pregnant, they will often open the rear of their abdomen and allow the ootheca some fresh air.

-When born, the nymphs are only a few millimeters in size, but they can grow to over 3 inches (~7cm) long.

-Nymphs can reproduce after 6 months.

-They can live for up to 4 years on average!

-Other than a few sharp little spikes on their legs, they are completely harmless.

-Contrary to popular belief, they are VERY CLEAN. They feed on decaying wood, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables and the occasional meal of dead meat, but they prefer the fresh stuff.

Probably a dumb question, but: do I need to do anything to my media drive when swapping from Windows?

I have a small external backup drive where I dump my phone camera captures and archive YouTube channels - nothing special; a few terabytes, mostly mp4s.

Is there anything I need to do before/after I swap?

If it matters, the drive is 9TB, formatted as NTFS, and connected via USB 3.0.

I also have 4 internal drives, but I'm not so much worried about them, as I plan on just formatting everything but the external.
