AFAIK on tumblr hastags (tags) aren't visible by default, so when people want to say something without breaking the flow of a conversation (jokes or extensions of ones own comment) they put it in said tags #this #is #the #reason #why #some #parts #of #this #post #is #in #light #theme #and #some #not, #they #are #screenshots

Not needed, look at the fingers of those pigs, look at the emblems on their shoulders, look at the people in the middle background in the middle between the frog and said pigs. No human created this file.

Marvelous idea, let's disregard well established language and time critical systems already relying on the existence of timezones that can't easily be updated for... Being able to tell people your time without actually conveying information.
"Hey wanna play some videya" I ask my friends on another continent during noon "Sorry, its not quite dark yet but already too late for hideogame" -my friend, for whom the sun is still visible, but its a little bit too late, wishing there was a way to easily convey the fact that it is 21:00
Time zones may suck for programmers, but everyone who thinks even a little bit about human to human communication realizes how stupid it is. But I digress, were on lemmy; we dont do human to human communication often

I have been using steamvr on linux since a while now, getting close to the mythical 1000h playtime. while it mostly works on paar with windows, there is a single drawback that might make it impossible for people to play on linux, being async. Which works on amd, but isnt supported by nvidia drivers.
While that isnt really a problem in openvr if you can maintain your headsets display refresh rate or in games without a lot of movement (example vrchat), its missing in nvidia drivers results people with an nvidia card not being able to play any openxr games (example newer versions of beatsaber), as openxr hard depends on it. Stupidly enough, openxr games still work with async disabled, but refuse to if your drivers dont support it

Could Microsoft destroy Linux gaming by using the windows store
Reply in thread
Win32 is a collection of windows APIs that allows applications to freely take use of windows. The problem being that 99% of current windows applications use win32 APIs, so all those programs would just be dead unless the alternative is api compatible. So in order to kill win32 Microsoft would have to release an api compatible alternative.
So what would happen if they did that? That is kill win32 and add an api compatible alternative? Best case scenario: nothing changes. Worse case scenario: every single standalone exe would be dead
So why kill win32? Power; by lets say locking the new api behind the windows store, they basically fully lock all applications to ever be redistributed to said windows store, killing steam, itch, epic games, and every single exe in existence. The only way applications would exist is by approval of Microsoft.
Now obviously this will never happen.
The entire premise of win32 shutting down is made up by people not understanding what they are talking about. However as a corporation, valve rather spends money on an alternative to be able to tell Microsoft, that they are able to significantly influence window's desktop marketshare, than to let Microsoft do whatever they want, even if it is mostly just smaller things.

The best that I can think of that fits those requironments would be Linux mint. When downloading you can select between 3 different Editions, whose only difference is the desktop, all this boils down to is how it looks, so just select whatever looks best to you.
Now something to keep in mind when switching to linux; while you will be able to do all that youd want on a PC on linux, some software that you might use and be accustomed to (like the adobe suit) might not be supported on linux (like the adobe suit) so youd need to find alternatives. Linux was designed around terminals, 'cmd' on windows, so while you can do most in a GUI, you will more often than not find tutorials using said terminals. And unlike on windows with guis, terminals have both direct system access, as well was expect you to know what you are doing, so read what it prints, its important.

Firefox failing several privacy tests out-of-the-box, according to Brave article
Reply in thread
Correct, but so is linux itself as seen here, likewise, Microsoft also helps the development of the linux kernel as seen on this Linux Foundation webpage. Sometimes ad services sponsor non ad related projects.
In the case of firefox however, they are funded by google to have it be the default search engine, and not because Firefox itself sells ad spaces. So I dont quite get the point you are making

Draw the most intricate, gorgeous eyes the world has ever seen.
While I do know this was written partially as a joke, let me rant for a lil bit. Art for me is the expression of emotions and intend, someone's view of the world, and someone's desire to tell a story. Art is much reflection on one self as well as said reflection expressed in ways of creation. Let's say someone makes a mechanical calculator today, what does it tell me about the person who build it? Their love for mechanical automation, the play of physics and interactions thereof with the human concept of numbers, someone's general curiosity how everything plays together; a fascination with nature and everything born off of it. Let's say someone draws an eye, the media most humans use to observe everything and being observed, a media used to shape who we are, so what can we represent with that? Parts of someone's personality and current emotion (shape of eyes, muscle movement/placement around those [the way an eye is open], tears), they can represent who someone is, what defines then, do they have a gray stare? The color of their iris, the size of their pupil, reflections inside the eyes or lack thereof; a literal representation of human nature and the state of their wellbeing. So then, what if an artists just bucket fills a canvas red without deeper meaning? Well are you sure there is no deeper meaning? What if the intend of the art wasn't pretty picture but rather you reflecting on yourself and your current emotional state? If you pay money for an museum exhibition and see that, a square of red, will you not feel ripped off? You paid money for art, youre seeing a solid color, its a scam! Then reflect, isn't that exactly the desired art, not the picture but how you feel, your emotions? What does red often represent? Its used to attract attention, it represents anger, love; you see the art because of how bold it is, a square of nothing in a museum, then you feel anger, you've been ripped of, and after thinking about it you love it, because the art wasn't pretty picture, but the intend of making you feel emotions, a bold exclamation of human nature, emotions and self reflection; you are the art.
What about someone trying to tell a story but fail? What drives someone to do something like telling a story, creating a world, without knowing how. What brings someone to try something they never did, a story that inevitably isn't as good as desired and full of plotholes? Its someone's unapologetic intend to speak, a representation of who they are, that they are interested enough in trying to create something dearly for them, to not give up until they hit upload for the world to read a small slice of their creativity and desire to experience and let others experience.
Art is not just pretty picture, art is everything.
And even besides that, what does it matter as long as you have fun? If youre practicing for a decade something like this, fun, should have already struck, so just keep going and enjoy yourself :3

What? The decline button adds a cookie that tells a given website that you've declined any given popup, so that the website knows not go give you this popup again. This means that if you are using a standard web browser (defined as generic firefox/chromium without adblock) said cookie remains for some time until it expires; because yes, keeping any cookie for undetermined amount of time is bad. So if anything your tails gets more popups if they dont store said cookies and use no external tools to block those popups like adblockers. Also yes I know tails is an OS, but I dont get why using it matters in the discussion about cookie popups not storing their declination state for rolls dice 4 years.

Sorry I may have worded it not good within my ramble. Yes you are correct in that not everyone has the same sleep schedule, but it doesn't really matter does it? 12:00 is still 12:00, we know what we mean; this doesn't work between countries (or the same like China if its big enough for different timezones (which like China intentionally adopted because of specifically this reason)). Since 12 for me and for you are different, we have to do a handshake of how what number means which can be avoided with time zones. I know that 03:00 is night for you (whoa I dont even need to know in which county in which country you live)
To go back to monopoly, since you also responded to that "Want to play monopoly" "No" Why? Too late? Not interested? And when you answer with "its too late" I dont know if its too late for anything, as it currently 15:00, or because its 11:00, and you have enough time to play one or two rounds of uno
Likewise the example another user used down below with traveling. If one usually wakes up at 06:00, one would have to look up, and calculate to what they have to change their alarm to go off at the approximately correct time, which will be ass for people traveling for work often
