They're everywhere. Nearly everybody you encounter on the internet is a bot. There are only two real people in this vast digital ocean: me, posting this comment; and you, reading this comment. We're the only ones capable of posting OC that isn't AI slop. You gotta step it up.

Democrats incredulous over Hakeem Jeffries and Jared Kushner meeting
Nah, I readily believe it. What I'm incredulous about is the lack of certain things happening to a certain person and his property as a result. He isn't afraid enough for who he's been exposed to be.

Why Democrats Must Embrace a “Mom Populist” Education Agenda
Reply in thread
The obviously good position here is "I wasn't lucky enough to get to go to college like you were. College was and still is an opportunity reserved for the privileged, and it's only been getting worse. I'd like to see that changed so that everybody who wants a college education can have access to it. When you work for the public, your job is to remove archaic barriers, not chastise people who were excluded by them. We should be seeking to make things better and easier for every subsequent generation, not forcing them to endure every hardship we struggled with. What is the point of a civilized society if not to improve the quality of life for all as we move forward?"

Trump wildly claims hospitals are performing ‘reverse surgery’ on trans patients ’at my order'

I'm not sure who's dumber: dumbass trump or the dumbasses who voted for him three goddamn times. Any dumbass could've been tricked the first time, but smarter dumbasses knew better than to fall for it twice; imagine how fucking dumb you'd have to be to fall for his bullshit a third time, after all the corruption, COVID mismanagement, J6 coup, felony convictions, Epstein shit, etc. Imagine still thinking that this NYC elite billionaire real estate mogul who just learned what "groceries" are is on your side. He ran on affordability, attributed his win to his focus on affordability, and is now claiming that affordability is made-up bullshit that the "communists" are flinging to criticize him.
Trump is a stupid motherfucker, just about as stupid as I can imagine a person being, and yet millions of people are possibly even more fucking stupid for continuing to support him. I just don't understand how such a level of stupidity could be possible.

US Postal Service rule tightens mail-in voting despite court orders blocking changes
Reply in thread
It's the only way I've voted for years. It's so nice to get my ballot and be able to take the time over a cup of coffee at home to research every candidate and proposition so that I'm making an informed decision.
The alternative is to give the ability to kneecap populated blue districts so that lines are 6+ hours long, dissuading people in those blue areas from voting. A real democracy requires voting to be easy, quick, and free, without prejudice. Voting by mail is the simplest and best solution for most people.
I'm not sure I've ever been nosey enough to ask other people how they vote, so you might be very surprised by how many people you know are voting by mail. Unless you're in a state that makes it complicated for no reason, it just doesn't make sense to waste so much time and energy on driving somewhere and standing in line and then feeling rushed in the booth or else risk a mistake that invalidates your ballot. Here in Virginia, I think it was just a one time application to receive my ballots by mail and I didn't need to cite any reason to qualify for it. It's just an objectively better process. You should look into how to do it in your state and try it for yourself. And if it's not easily available, you should be asking yourself why anybody would want to make it harder to participate in their democratic process. Forcing it to be an in person only option restricts it to people with enough time and money to be able to get to their polling place and spend significant time on what for others is likely a work/school day. It's targeted voter suppression.

Gen Z turns against capitalism as DSA takes off
Reply in thread
Right, but capitalism is exploitative by its very nature. Profit is evidence of underpaying labor. There is a massive difference between something like a small business where the owner is working to provide the products/services themselves vs somebody buying a factory/plant/farm/whatever and paying others to do the work for them while they collect millions merely for owning the means of production. Is it possible for a small, single owner/worker/operator business to profit? Yes. The business profits by paying the owner less than their labor was worth, but it's ultimately identical to paying the full value and then them choosing to invest their money back into the business. But you'd be braindead to do that because of how taxes on businesses work compared to income tax.
To be clear, it's not that it's called capitalism that's what is pissing people off. It's that people are going deep into debt to get degrees that they were promised were tickets to making enough money to live comfortably in a house that they could own, and instead everybody is so broke that simple purchases now require financing while working 2-3 jobs. Everything is getting worse and more expensive and it's because of the economic expectation of infinite growth in a real world with finite resources. Speculative value is falsely inflating the value of an increasingly fundamental cornerstone of the US economy, and therefore a significant chunk of the global economy. AI as a tool can be useful in targeted usecases, but its parading as a solution for everything is a ruinous fucking bubble that's spreading and consuming at a civilization-ending rate; it's collapse if it pops, and it's dystopian hell if it doesn't.

Time is a circle. That's why clocks are round.
Because one of those things is contagious, impacting consumers and laborers and therefore halting commerce until addressed. It was determined to be more profitable to give away free shots. Yay capitalism.

Trump says he was victim of 'triple sabotage' at UN and Secret Service is looking into the matter
Persecution complex on full display. What a fucking embarrassment. I wish him the absolute worst. He's certainly in the top ten list of worst human beings to have ever lived, and we let him become US president. I don't think enough Americans are aware of the lasting damage being incurred, or the path towards actual collapse we're bumbling down.
