EU wants over 70s to prove they can still drive every five years
Good, I completely agree with this. Maybe once they hit 80, every year.

It’s morally correct

Agreed, big time. I have a few gripes with this platform, but it's just starting, just had a huge amount of users come so it's manageable. I kind of don't want the massive reddit user base.

Lemmy now has over 50,000 active daily users
Awesome, I'd like to see lemmy be successful. Not exactly a reddit replacement as there was a lot of toxicity there. But like a more positive community.

Restaurant staff seeking proof of vaccination receive threats, verbal abuse | CBC News
Two year old article. Don't think restaurants are screening for covid vaccines anymore.

Lemmy communities need a distinct one word name for communities like how reddit has "subreddits"
Lemmies? Sublems? Underlems?
Communities don't have the same ring to it, I agree.

YSK: Cats don't like their whiskers touching their food bowl. This is why they beg even if food is still left at the bottom.

My cat will come and tap me a couple of times with his paw to get my attention, then wander to his food bowl. He just wants me to pet him while he eats. It's the cutest thing.

Taking a break from lemmy because of how slow everything today.
Posting a comment takes 20 seconds, I've seen a lot of duplicate comments from users, wondering if they are spamming the post button because it's taking so long.

PSA: Let’s fill Kbin/Lemmy with content to attract and KEEP new users

Same boat for sure. In my 11 years or so on reddit, it was definitely a comment a month kind of thing. Maybe even everything 6 months.

Reddit users are saying goodbye to their favorite apps with tributes and memes; ‘It’s been a great run. So long and thanks for everything.’
Long time baconreader user, first reddit app and only reddit app I used. I guess I won't be going back.

Lemmy enjoys growth as developers pivot from Reddit amid API charging controversy

My local area sub is still pretty active, but I did notice that in the other subreddit the comments section is a lot more sparse.

Into which pocket do you place your phone?
Either one really. I've never had a specific pocket for anything. Are people really this organized? Am I the heathen?

Does Lemmy have multireddits?
If there was a top level where you could aggregate communities based on subject, say all the communities that include news. Is that what you mean? It would be awesome if that feature existed.

Is there an easy way to bring all my old technical posts from Reddit to Lemmy?
You can request all your reddit data from reddit. It takes a week or two, but then you'll get a link where you can download a zip file with a bunch of CSVs with all your comments, posts, up votes, everything.

Be honest, do you still use reddit?
I do, but not nearly as much. My reddit time when from a couple hours a day, to maybe 15 minutes here and there when I'm at a PC only. Even then, it's not as active. Only my local sub is because the community didn't migrate.

First Reddit API change, and now Twitter is rate limiting. Is this the implosion of corporate social media?

Use VPN, switch country to turkey, pay 20 bucks for a year of youtube premium. It sucks, but 20 bucks is more affordable than the 10 per month they are asking.

I should break out this game again. Haven't played it since a month after launch, and it wasn't the greatest at the time.

Aspartame is safe in limited amounts, say experts after cancer warning
Honestly, aspartame is terrible for me. I have a weird allergic reaction to it when all the sudden my sinuses go crazy and I feel like I have a cold. Lasts for 15 minutes or so if I have a sip of aspartame containing beverages. I'll just stick to drinking sparkling water.

I probably could, there are Github repos with code to do exactly that, but I don't know if it's against the community or anything.
Could probably set up a Bot to post local articles and whatnot from multiple sources.

The real test is if it can support that user count. How much will it cost to run it, how much data would that consume? Someone has to pay for the servers and donations might not cut it.
