Be kind to our financially paired brethren.
Good point. I think "oligarch" is more accurate.

Thank You Everyone For Rejecting The Fascists/Bigots At The Door
I was so fucking relieved to see that lemmy.world doesn't fuck around with the fascist "absolute free-speech" game. Fucking FINALLY! If I didn't already have a reason not to return to reddit/Twitter/whatever, this would've been enough on its own. Thank you, admins!

PAYDAY 3 will use Denuvo anti-piracy technology in its PC version

Edit: Seems the below statement was factually incorrect. Oops!
It's a very obnoxious and heavy-handed approach to anti-piracy measures. It slows down games, kills framerates, gives users a whole host of other performance issues, and just makes the experience worse overall. It's a product that doesn't even seem to care to improve, because they make their money from publishers, not the people who buy and play the game. Many people hate it, and I believe it's absolutely justified.

A third party signed up 15,000 voters in Arizona. Democrats worry that’s enough for a Biden spoiler

No Labels is an astroturf group that aims to divide the dem vote. It is NOT a legitimate option for those who want to advance progressive policies. They do not disclose their funding and investigations have found that a large donor was Harlan Crowe; the billionaire who bought InJustice Thomace.
Maybe someone should challenge dem leadership, but splitting the vote with a party backed by far-right billionaires isn't the answer. It's the fucking problem.

Content moderation absolutely is a form of free speech. They get to decide who to associate with and what ideals to rebroadcast with their own equipment. They aren't government entities and do reserve the right to express their individual beliefs. If you have a problem with that, find a better-suited instance for your own personal beliefs, or host your own.
If you want further reading on the subject, here's a well-written post that explains the positive relationship between more active content moderation and "freer" speech.

Firefox had some issues like a decade ago on their old engine. In the past few years, they seriously stepped up their game.
If you're a normal user, you probably won't even notice the difference between Firefox and Chomium-based browsers. Sometimes I come across a weird website that doesn't want to load properly, so I'll open a Chrome tab for a few minutes to access it, but that's increasingly rare.
For web development, I generally prefer Chome's debug tools, but do all my normal browsing with Firefox.

This POS likes to just.... block it anyways... it isn't legal, but he's worth $6 billion, and it's only enforced by a small fine IIRC. And when the penalty for breaking a law is a fine, it's only illegal if you're poor.

And the shit about ceiling fans... Those new regulations are a win for everyone but shitty bootleg fan makers. No one is trying to "take their ceiling fans away," this is about making them better and cheaper. But, of course they hate that, too. If Biden said, "stop running your A/C with all of your windows open," Ted would complain about that next.

A contract for 75,000 Kaiser Permanente workers expired. Historic US health care strike could start Wednesday
Last night, I tripped and busted my chin open and had go to my local ER. One of the nurses treating me was limping around room-to-room treating patients despite breaking her foot that morning. Came to work anyways. Workers don't just deserve better, they need better.
Edit: typo

I'll never forget the reason one boomer told me. They used to be a "leftist" hippy, but is now your typical conservative sucker. When I asked what happened to cause that change, I got the answer, "Just stopped caring about others." That's exaxtly the attitude you're describing.
