The amount of people I need to explain this to is the mildly infuriating part.

One time when packing up after a LAN party, a friend of mine grabbed my surge protector instead of his power strip. A couple days later I was like "Hey we swapped some gear by mistake. I think you took my surge protector and I have your power strip" and he was was like "Oh well I already set my computer back up at home, so maybe we just keep them because it's the same thing"

Nah, my dude. Mine is an expensive surge protector that I put my expensive computer equipment on. Yours is a $10 power strip from the bargain bin at Home Depot and I would never plug things I care about into it.

He did swap back with me but acted like it was such a bother.

Tell me more about how if we all live in tents, that will offset the pollution from the data centers being built. Maybe if I walk my kids to daycare on the days it rains (I already walk them in good weather), the government will invest in green energy. Defending billionaires? Son, you must be lost.

More than just France. I went to Ireland this summer, and I have been several times before. In a country that is normally cloudy and rainy, it was sunny and bright. It didn't rain for the 10 days I was there. That sounds nice, but everything was dried up, it was sad. What is normally a drive through the lush and green countryside, was a drive through the brown and dry midlands. Not seeing those rolling hills of emerald green really bummed me out.

I flew to Ireland so my relatives could meet my children for the first time. I make that trip maybe once every 3 to 4 years.

If your response to climate change is to shame ordinary people for occasionally getting on an airplane while billionaires take private jets, oil companies fight renewable energy, and massive corporations produce pollution on a scale no individual could dream of matching, then you're aiming your anger in the wrong direction.

My "once every few years" flight is a rounding error. Telling regular people they shouldn't travel, see family, or enjoy their lives because corporations and the ultra rich have spent decades wrecking the climate isn't environmentalism. It's just shifting responsibility onto the people with the least power to fix the problem.

I don't recall mentioning how I voted, so that's a wild assumption.

And if the standard is that you're not allowed to criticize an economic system unless you've completely removed yourself from modern society, then nobody is allowed to criticize anything. I assume you didn't mine the silica, manufacture the chips, build the device, or construct the network you're using to post this comment.

Participating in a system because it's the system we currently live in isn't the same thing as endorsing every consequence of that system.

I mean, he's not wrong. But there has always been a ton of shitty action movies with the same cut and paste plot. Marvel just tweaked the formula.

And it's not like good movies aren't still being made. The Marvel movies are historically bad at winning awards. There have been a handful of nominations, but not a lot of wins. The wins always go to good movies that deserve them.

Sure, the Marvel movies pull in more money than other movies, but the money makers are usually trash. Marvel is like the McDonald's of movies. It's going to pull in way more money than a fine dining establishment, but not because it's good, because it's the garbage that the public will take out their wallet for. There is space in the market for both of these things.

As somebody who has to work with deploying this software for consultants that use W365 Cloud PCs, fuck this name. If there is an error or an issue with it, good fucking luck trying to Google a solution because searching for "Windows App Error" gets you nowhere fucking useful.

Okay, so I'm not crazy. I started seeing this today, and I had to stop and think "Wait, was this always here?"

In like 2018 I bought a 2014 Honda Accord Sport for $6500. 6 speed manual, fun car to drive. It had like 50k miles on it which is essentially nothing for a Honda. Carfax was clean etc. Then I had 2 kids and it was time for the Minivan. I traded in the Accord at the dealership (which I never do, but didn't have time to do a private sale). They gave me something like $9500 for it. This was in the beginning of 2025. I drove the Accord for 7 years and made $3000 somehow. And I'm sure the dealership sold it for like $12000.

Shits crazy.

I think this explains it right here. As another commenter said "more fear than anything else". Animals act very differently than humans when they are scared, they often get very aggressive. Anecdotally, when I was younger my loving smush of a dog got hit by a car and I ran over to her and she bit the shit out of me. She was scared for her life, and that's just how her brain was wired to react.

And just so I don't leave anybody feeling awful, she made it to the vet, needed a pin in her hip, and her tail was amputated, but she went on to live to the ripe old age of 15. My bites weren't too bad because she was a small dog. No stitches needed, but I have some tiny scars left if you look really close

But if you want to feel angry about the situation, it was a cop car that she was hit by which was flying down a residential street, and the cop yelled at me and my mother and threatened to give us a ticket for having a dog off the leash. And thus my hatred for police began at the age of 10.

I'm not trying to put the blame on him. I'm more trying to say that maybe he should be paid enough to afford housing and his job should provide sick days and maybe even Healthcare. This guy was grinding himself to death while putting others at risk just so he could get by. That's not his fault. He was doing what he needed to do to get by. It's messed up that he had to do that.
