Is McDonalds in America expensive and crap?

McDonalds has a multinational presence, along with taking regional pricing into account (meaning the prices of food items differ and adjusted based on GDP per capita), like a Big Mac is $6 before tax while the same is $2 in another country.

The menu is different by country (certain menu items are only available in that region, like how Japan has burgers with teriyaki sauce or rice buns) along with the menu being around ¥1500 for a tray while the same is $40 in the US.

I mean, have you tried McDonalds overseas? If so, is it cheaper when you consider regional pricing and what item do you wish was available at US McDonalds but only remains in that country? Is McDonalds in other countries better or worse?

If you speak another language besides ENG, are the subtitles terrible?

I'm mainly talking about watching a TV show or movie that's originally in English enabling subtitles that's either in Spanish, German, Russian, Finnish, etc. and can mistakes in translation still occur? I recall watching Lie to Me with Japanese subtitles during a scene involving an interrogation but a key word within the dialog was not translated correctly based on context.

For example, the protagonist said "You're an accessory for murder" towards the suspect but subtitles used the wrong word choice 小物 (which means "accessories" as in small goods, i.e. stationery or trinkets) when the intended meaning for "accessory" from that context leans more on being a conspirator (共犯者 or 共謀) of a crime (like as in aiding the criminal).

Is the default launcher terrible?

For vanilla minecraft, the default launcher from Mojang themselves is fine but lacks support for mods (since you have to download those seperately alongside the mods you want to add). However, if you are serious about modding the game: Prism, ATLauncher, Curse Forge are preferred since those have the loaders (Forge, Fabric) integrated.

Should you renounce your current citizenship if moving abroad permanently?

I hear stuff equivalent to "Westerners moving to another country for a better opportunity" but overlook one detail: their citizenship is still from the USA / UK / AUS / NZ (so there's jury duty, right to vote, taxation, etc to take into account) in which those things still linger around even if you are not physically there, since it's heavily tied to what passport one carries.

I mean it like this, if one is held back by jury duty in USA / UK / AUS / NZ that makes it somewhat annoying to move abroad as it remains volatile whether you'll be summoned even in absentia or while preparing to move abroad, even if you explained and provided them proof that you are living abroad indefinitely: would that alone grant you a permanent excusal?

Some countries even have mandatory voting during elections (i.e. Australia), again that can be a set back for some. Civic duties such as being summoned by the court on being a potential juror or voting hold you behind when wanting to move abroad, as they can happen at any given moment. Renouncing citizenship of a "Anglo" nation rescinds all that.

Taxes are something EVERY nation has, there's no escape on that. However, for example the US is one of those countries that collects taxes based on citizenship: the solution for that is an American renouncing their passport ONLY if they are a naturalized citizen of the country they've moved to (which a US government official has to finalize & approve).

Depending on the country they have moved to: some countries have tough requirements for naturalization (as each nation has their own nationality laws) like Japan doesn't recognize dual citizenship (now requires 10 years permanent residency before elligibility) while some countries allow dual citizenship (i.e. Germany) with lenient requirements for elligibility.

Renouncing citizenship from your home country isn't a cake walk since it has multiple legal requirements and bureaucracy holds you back before being a naturalized citizen of the country you've moved abroad to. Like this, if you renounced your US / UK / AUS / NZ passport: that rescinds your ability to vote and no longer have to stress about jury duty.

What happens if you have technology from 100 millennia in the future today?

As in, you have what is considered “alien” technology that’s 100,000 years newer than anything invented or available today. By then, most humans around today are deceased before that’s even invented due to it being beyond our own lifetime. First, it would be studied if anything of that sort is available now or an equivalent but nothing comes close. People may ask questions as to how you acquired such advanced tech.

Governments may force you to mass produce that against your will if the demand is high, but again comes with its own issues: the materials it’s produced from are beyond what we already acknowledge (not yet known until later) but, they may just coerce you to extract such materials and resources. The futuristic technology will look nothing that’s depicted in science fiction, since it’s something we don’t even understand yet.

Have you ever been summoned for Jury Duty in either the US & Canada?

I know that Jury Duty is mandatory in both nations (USA all 50 states / Canada all 13 provinces) meaning citizens have to show up in person when they receive the "dreaded letter" via the mail telling them the date / time and court in which they have to attend, excusals exist if you manage to plead your reasoning for excusal with evidence.

I mean, have you received a summons from the court saying you've been chosen as a juror? There are penalities on failing to attend. If you were selected on being part of the jury, what is the experience like and how much are you paid? If you weren't selected on being part of the jury that time, is there a chance you can be summoned again at any given moment?

Neurodivergent people (i.e. Autism, ADHD, dyslexia) who have received the summons can plead their reasoning as to why they aren't eligible to be a juror only if they have medical evidence (diagnosis of their condition, psych report, doctors letter, medical certificate) explaining why their condition makes them unable to serve & etc.

What is it like traveling with two passports at the same time?

I mean, is it any different traveling abroad as a dual citizen between two nations (carrying both passports with you) or does it remain the same as traveling with only a single passport? Are there also complications of possessing two citizenships during times of crisis? (Like who takes charge when something occurs from war, natrual disaster, kidnapping & ransom, etc.).

The idea of being a citizen of two countries sounds good but can come with caveats when you take into account of diplomatic reciprocity or foreign relations, whether both countries are friends or enemies. Some countries forbid dual citizenship (like Japan or UAE) while there are countries that allow it (such as UK or USA).

Why does Monaco have a higher GDP per capita than the United States?

To put it by comparison: Monaco (the country) is a smaller than Central Park in NYC but their GDP per capita is around $256,000 while the USA it hovers at around $92,000. Like why does a European microstate that small have a higher GDP than a major super power? They don't have income tax to be worried about (unless you are a French citizen).

Is it because everyone there is basically a millionaire or working in the tourism industry where their main clientele are basically elites who have left over cash? The country's population is 38,500 (about half of San Clemente, CA) but even with a small population, do people in Monaco have a higher disposable income when you take it into account?

Why are Steam games priced unfairly in Euros indifferent to where one resides?

Regardless where one lives in Europe (including countries where salaries are lower than those living in France or Germany for example: such as Hungary, Romania, Latvia or Serbia to name a few) yet they're confronted with 89,99€ at release considering EVERYONE in Europe as wealthy (further from the truth since there are nations in Europe where people aren't paid 8000€ a month, some are paid x10 less than that).

Regional pricing is indifferent in this case no matter as to their actual income, it's weird since they count countries where Euros aren't used (Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia) whilst people there aren't earning high salaries, like this: a Romanian earns 815€ a month but are treated no different: a 90€ game at launch (about 10% of their wage), for some reason they don't bother adjusting it based on a specific country.

Why don't cards from one's home country work at foreign app stores, steam or the PS store?

I know that (US) Charles Schwab debit cards will be refused on Japanese steam or PS stores as their algorithm can tell the card is NOT from Japan since their system only recognizes cards that are issued from their own country. The same applies if a foreigner tries imputting a Charles Schwab card onto the Japanese app store (iOS) leading to rejections.

The same thing applies to both Revolut & Wise: as Japan PS store, Steam & App Store refuse cards that aren't matching the region (perhaps due to potential fraud). It doesn't matter if you have either, since PS store (JPN) for example won't accept it, since they only cater to cards that are issued from the same region the store front is set in.

Am I allowed to keep or spend (non-A$) cash in Australia?

I've heard about a movement about keeping cash alive. However, am I allowed to exchange or keep "foreign" cash in Australia despite it being worth more? For example, I hoard cash via the following currencies: USD, BBD, OMR, KWD, PLN, GBP, EUR & AED to name a few and most are higher value than Australian Dollar.

I mean, will stores (in touristy parts of Sydney) accept the following in cash (mentioned above) directly for transactions. Like for instance: this item costs A$50 but gave them a 200€ (A$330) bill as payment, will they take that at face value due to that being worth more despite it being the second most traded currency globally?

Why is Swiss Franc worth more than US Dollars?

Despite it being a stronger currency, is it exchangeable in the United States for dollars? Would that mean I'll be getting more in dollars due to that having high value? Also, why is the Swiss Franc more colorful in its appearance while US Dollars look rather bland in comparison? To break down each denomination's value:

CHF~ in USD
Fr. 1000$1278
Fr. 200$255
Fr. 100$127
Fr. 50$63
Fr. 20$25
Fr. 10$12

Meanwhile, the value of US Dollar is lower in comparison to the Franc:

USD~ in CHF
$100Fr. 78.30
$50Fr. 39.15
$20Fr. 15.66
$10Fr. 7.83
$5Fr. 3.92
$2Fr. 1.57
$1Fr. 0.78

The lowest bill denomination is Fr. 10 (or $12) so anything below that is issued in coins. But, the real indicator is the Big Mac Index: for instance, the burger in Swiss McDonalds is Fr. 7.30 ($8) with VAT included while the same thing is $5.79 (before tax) in the USA meaning you have to pay more for the same item.

However the mininum wage in Geneva (with a population bit less than Scotsdale or Boise) alone is Fr. 24.59 ($31.40) per hour, while the minimum wage in let's say Seattle is $20.76 per hour so technically, the Swiss have more money. Just because of their currency's value, it makes US Dollar look cheap.

Why do steam games appear cheap in Asia?

For example, take the price of RE9: Requiem (Deluxe) in comparison to major currencies and notice that it costs LESS than from the Western world: (Why is that the case?)

CountryLocal Currencyin USDin GBPin EUR
Japan¥9,990$62.85£46.8053,75€
South Korea₩91,800$61.90£46.3053,15€
China¥398$58.30£43.3049,70€
India₹4799$51.70£38.5044,20€
Kazakhstan29,100₸$60.95£45.3052,15€
Philippines₱3490$58.40£43.5049,95€
IndonesiaRp 1039000$60.80£45.3052,00€
Vietnam1690000₫$64.40£48.0055,10€

Now take the exact same game in "Western" money, it costs even MORE :

USUKEU
$79.99£69.9979,99€

Like, why is it so expensive? I would say the US one costs more as sales tax isn't accounted for (until checkout) on their store front while VAT is included on both UK & EU store fronts via steam.

Do you consider this dystopian AF?

The UK government is like: "submit ID first before you use iPhone", like WTF? As apparently, they are considering on making that the default way to unlock a cellphone whilst spying on you (like they already are) keeping tabs on what apps you're currently using, have downloaded or purchases made online.

Their Online Safety Act is stupid ever since it was enforced last year as that has done nothing except for making people bypass it entirely (like there's cases of game characters used to circumvent age verification & facial scans) so I'll assume the same will happen with this (fake ID's) just to unlock iPhones.

Why has the Argentinian economy gone to shit?

Argentina is going through difficult times (especially with the Peso being bad as it’s very volatile) since most Argentinians would prefer USD over the Peso either through savings or investment.

That’s because the dollar is the best bet not only for savings, but for making a living (if they can manage to get remote work). The thing is, how did Argentina end up in this situation in the first place?
