TikToker who debunked Jason Aldean's 'Try That in a Small Town' video receives racist, violent hate mail

Anyone still trying to claim "both sides" at this point are just willfully ignorant.

How did people think it was okay to force 13 year olds to give birth to rape babies? How did people think it was okay to force a woman to give birth to the corpse of her already confirmed dead child or carry her dead child until it rotted inside her? How did people think it was okay to let women go to jail for having a miscarriage? How did people value a bundle of formless non-sentient cells more than rape victims or children or even just women in general who deserve autonomy and respect? How did people understand why it was wrong to force someone to donate their organs without consent, and yet still tried to force women to donate their wombs and in some cases their lives without their consent?
Oh yeah, because they were fucking idiots, like you.

How to de-radicalize my mom's youtube algorithm?
Do the block and uninterested stuff but also clear her history and then search for videos you want her to watch. Cover all your bases. You can also try looking up debunking and deprogramming videos that are specifically aimed at fighting the misinformation and brainwashing.

Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
There are no laws stating that we have to watch or see ads, so forcing us to watch them feels like a huge overstep. Companies shouldn't be able to have this much control over a public service.

Why are so many TV shows trying to be "meta" these days? I think it's lazy writing.
Bro have you never watched a Futurama episode before in your life? They've ALWAYS made jokes about current events and pop culture. Those jokes a perfectly in-line with their usual humour.

What is your favorite older movie that could NEVER get made in this day and age?

Hate to break it to you, but if complaints about one movie scene was all it took to get you to "leave" the left, then you were never really on the left to begin with.

2 Cisgender People Killed In Suspected Anti-Trans Attacks
Reply in thread
There's this delusion amongst transphobes that they can "always clock a tranny" and that they're never wrong when they decide that someone is secretly trans because they have a more prominent Adam's apple or something equally stupid. Of course the truth is that they're wrong constantly and are just idiot bigots, which this illustrates rather poignantly unfortunately. They don't really know who is or isn't trans, they just want to pretend they know so they can feel vindicated by "recognizing" trans people, and they convince themselves that trans people can never truly blend in to society. Because if trans people really were capable of being indistinguishable from cis people, then that would mean that at some point they might have, gasp, treated a trans person like a human being and used the proper pronouns. The horror.
Of course trans people shouldn't have to blend in, they shouldn't have to pass to be treated as the gender they identify as, or with basic human decency.

Tell them you're going to prank them, and then don't.

[Serious] My high schooler worked at a fast food joint. Recently he encountered one of his underage coworkers under the influence of meth, which she said was given by management. What to do?
I think it's worth being called a snitch to help stop a young girl from being abused.

Bro, I don't know how you missed this, but your church is the minority among Christians. I come from a large Christian family so I'm not saying that as someone who hates Christians, I'm saying that as someone with two eyes and common sense. And I'm also someone who is not straight so I'm also speaking from experience myself. Christians who ignore these issues within their community are only enabling them. I get that you feel defensive about your religion because it's a part of who you are so an attack on it feels like an attack on you, but if you really care about it then you should be motivated to work on improving it so it can live up to your love for it, instead of getting mad at people for being rightfully unhappy about a group that has a long, long history of abusing lgbt people, and which hasn't exactly done a lot in recent years to improve their reputation.

The time when my girlfriend became a dragon
Those are two different genres. Most shounen series still have simpler titles. Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Black Clover, Chainsaw Man, My Hero Academia, Promised Neverland, etc. Ones with long titles tend to be comedy, shoujo, or ecchi.

If you could have a superpower but no control over when it activates, what would it be?
The ability to cure any disease/illness or unwanted mental disorder/illness in anyone nearby within a certain radius. Might as well focus on it helping others if it's completely random.

How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
Idk about other people, but I don't really know how the instances work and the lemmy.world instance name seems the least abstract. Beehaw was confusing because it's not called lemmy so idk if it's a different thing or what, and idk what .ml means or stands for. Lemmy.world just looks like it's the default lemmy instance to me as a dunce who doesn't know how lemmy works.

You probably don’t need a masters degree to debunk this one.
This dude is basically just writing historical fanfiction at this point. Add vampires or zombies and maybe he could sell a book.

Arizona Republican refers to Black Americans as 'colored people' in House floor debate
Reply in thread
Because it has a different connotation. It's generally used by a different demographic, often to refer to themselves, and doesn't have the unfortunate history that "coloured people" has. Just because they're similar that doesn't make them the same. Most people I've seen using the term "coloured people" aren't exactly known for being not-racist. Most people I've seen using "people of colour" are, well, people of colour. We sometimes need a shorthand for people who aren't white but may or may not be black, and personally I tend to go with whatever the people being referred to generally prefer.

Biomedical CEO believes it’ll soon be possible for same-sex couples to share biological children
I'll be honest, I don't really see why this was needed atm, I think there are too many kids who need to be adopted before we try to focus on giving more people biological kids.
