You could give Fedora Sway Atomic a try, it's basically Fedora immutable (same as Bazzite), but with Sway (tileable, keyboard centric window manager) desktop. It's low on resources but I'd say it's not for everyone.

Or you could build your own Fedora bootc version with whatever desktop environment you like. The syntax is that of Containerfiles and even if you've never build a container image before, it's extremely easy to do.

I think updates depend on the system itself, I can only speak about the one I know, bootc and it has no additional overhead in comparison to a regular rpm system. In fact, all that it does in the background is run dnf/rpm in a container and then simply dump that container in a separate partition. Nothing memory heavy happening there.

As for running containers, the memory overhead is negligible, at the order of a couple of megabytes per container at most.

The only strained resource on a immutsble system is arguably disk space, but usually that is mitigated by deduplication.

Reasoning being that some small scale clash with NATO would feed into the narrative at home that Russia has been fighting against NATO all this time and, counterintuitively this would be a convenient off ramp. I feel exactly like that. I started in tech some 10+ years ago simply because I liked computers and what you could do with them and since then I changed jobs, got promoted several times but i never truly lost the passion. That is, until a couple of years ago, after I was once again promoted in a very senior technical position. Something happened after that, the amount of bullshit I had to endure was just immense. Day in and day out, it was more and more about the perception of doing work, the politics, the positioning against strategic direction, the revenue. BUT, I was still happy every now and then when I managed to do what I loved and what I was good at. And then LLMs happened and it's been downhill ever since. No joy, no purpose, nothing that I can cling to for my own sanity. Almost every day I dream about being a bartender or a mailman or simply not doing anything. Of course, I probably will never actually do it, the amount of money I earn now simply doesn't exist in other jobs and I'm not sure one can live off of "gratitude of a job that's actually useful" and I'm getting older and that's that. No happy ending here.

They don't care at all. What they do care is sowing polarization and distrust between western citizens. Russia benefits most when we (the West) are divided on various social issues, which leads to distrust of authorities, election of extremists in office and eventually weak and corrupt states and governments that are easily controlled or countered by Russia.

How is GTA5 disappointing? I remember playing it a couple of years after release and it still is one of the best open world games I ever played. Even now, more than 10 years since I played it, I remember the main characters and even some secondary ones and part of the story (even though I only played it once). If anything, I think the GTA5 model is what all "service" games should be -- excellent story and single player campaign and..whatever that online thing is. Frankly, I've never touched the online part in GTA5 but I hear it's quite successful.

Regarding the price, I would personally probably pay a bit more for a really really good game. I don't think the very good games selling for a premium are the problem, but the unfinished, reskinned and shitty games selling for 60-70. Like, how is Elden Ring released at the same price as Skull and Bones or FIFA ? Those should be 10-20 bucks, not the good games (assuming GTA6 will keep the quality bar up).
