Kamala Harris Launches Presidential Bid: ‘My Intention Is to Earn and Win This Nomination’

I don't like Harris, mainly because of her time as a prosecutor. I'm also not going to lie, I was having a really really hard time grappling with voting for Biden, I was begrudgingly willing to before the debate but when I watched it I was so outraged. I genuinely feel like his administration has been deceitful with his condition for a while. I'm not saying I wasn't going to vote for Biden, I understand the stakes, but I kept watching his interviews trying to get any genuine motivation for Biden. All I saw was a stubborn old man who refused to even acknowledge reality.

I've been following Biden news and this week I was convinced that he would drop out and so I wondered who would replace him. Harris immediately came to mind. Now as I said I don't care for Harris but before Biden announced this today I personally decided I would be willing to support Harris.

She isn't ancient, I believe she's more progressive, and I think she will be good in the debates. She isn't my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th pick, but I have far fewer hangups voting for Harris compared to Biden, and of course over Trump.

She isn't the best candidate in terms of absolute popularity, but when you factor in funding logistics and the fact that I think many good Dems picks would want to run in '28 when the timing isn't fucked, I think Harris is the most realistic pick. I'll happily take her compared to Biden.

Does the USPS, FedEx and UPS give a crap about weed shipments since Hemp sprayed with the same terpenes and looks the same as weed has been shipped legally for 9 years now?

For USPS they have a list of verified hemp vendors, they tried a couple years ago to open packages suspected of marijuana without a warrant. The outcome was it doesn't matter if they suspect it, you still have to get a warrant. So now if a vendor is a certified hemp vendor they can't touch it. Now UPS and FedEx are private companies so they can do pretty much whatever they want, that's why almost all hemp shipments go through USPS. I'm paraphrasing a lot but that's the gist of it. USPS is currently and has been the largest drug dealer in the country, even with omitting hemp because with the volume they process you could never catch them all and every other drug doesn't have a pungent smell like weed.

Bathroom tampons.

That's what I don't understand about these attacks, I didn't even have a sister growing up but my mom would have a box of tampons next to the toilet. I remember wondering what they were..... And that was it. For years I used the bathroom next to tampons and it had zero impact on life.

Aluminum

Team aluminum all the way. A higher up where I work is obsessed with stainless steel, he gets these monstrous heavy duty tables made out of SS that hold objects 1/3 of their weight. Makes lab rearranging a nightmare lol.

Fucking terrifying form of life, I remember seeing this on Animal Planet as a kid. The whole cycle is fascinating, thank god it doesn't fuck with the birds brains. Can you imagine a parasite trying to pilot an avian? Reiteration: fucking terrifying.

Trump lied and Biden got tongue tied at the first debate. So why is the world only focusing on one?

Because Trump performed exactly how he has in every previous debate, I'm not saying it was good but it was the same shit level of performance that I expected.

Biden performed horrendously compared to expectations, that's why he gets the focus. Trump lying his ass off just isn't news anymore, I'm not justifying it but it would have been stranger if he hadn't.

I know Trump shouldn't get a pass but the reason Biden is getting so much focus and Trump isn't is pretty obvious. Trump did as Trump does and Biden had a horrible performance.

Helldivers 2 now delisted in 177 countries

To be fair there is a lot of speculation that the delisting is actually entirely from steam's side not sony or arrowhead. Nothing is confirmed of course but the thought is that steam is throwing the kill switch on selling in these countries right now because obviously the publisher hadn't thought this out and just straight up doesn't have a plan for it. Valve may be doing this to put extra pressure on the situation drying up sales a little prematurely and more importantly to protect Valve from legal repercussions. Again this is entirely speculation but it makes a lot of sense, Arrowhead and Sony have been pretty quiet.

It's a lot different in academia vs industry for hard sciences. I currently work in industry, we have no options in the things we research but we are funded to the Moon. There is of course some amount of bowing we have to do in order to keep them quiet but that's about it.

In academia you have to secure your own funding constantly or your project just ends essentially. Academic institutions also look at metrics like impact factor and papers published/time that also effects the availability of funding. I know that people have had to stop pursuing doctorates due to funding issues. Politics in academia is notoriously horrendous.

Biden may start forgiving student debt in October

Reply in thread

Most of his reform so far has focused more on making the current paths that existed more obtainable, ex: public service loan forgiveness. So he has made student loan forgiveness where you meet specific qualifications much better, which is very helpful, but not everyone qualifies.

Blanket student loan forgiveness hasn't happened, because it was successfully blocked by the Republicans (after like 4 attempts). I assume this is referring to blanket forgiveness.

Could be wrong on all this, if anyone spots something incorrect just say it.
