Welcome to Liftoff!
Just installed it for Android and it already feels so much better than the mobile website or Jerboa. Thanks for the work, I'll be following the development of the app!

Lemmy.world status update 2023-07-04
Thanks for all the work you, and all the others do to welcome so many new users, and thank you for keeping us posted on your efforts to smooth things over.
From what I see the general sentiment is very positive and understanding, and it feels special to be part of a community that's more upbeat than what you see in most online places.

I like Lewis but he can come across as whiny sometimes...

What Android app should I use to browse Lemmy?
I've tried Jerboa, Liftoff and Connect for Lemmy and so far I like Liftoff best, it's still in beta but you can find it on their GitHub as an apk for Android or via TestFlight for iOS: https://github.com/liftoff-app/liftoff

I'm in the same situation, and I agree. I even got the premium lite plan for 7€ which I find really reasonable with the quality of the content and the amount I watch. I'd rather pay YouTube and content creators than Netflix or Disney anyway.

High energy prices direct us to lowest energy usage since 1995[nl]
I don't have a smart thermostat or anything like that but I was really cautious with heating and energy consumption this winter. I just got a mail from Engie suggesting I adjust my my monthly provision from 307€ to... 10€.
I guess I managed to reduce my consumption...

I think it's mostly Engie being assholes and covering their ass during the energy crisis this winter by overestimating the provision they charge.
I mean last summer I was still on a fixed plan with a provision of 90€. I left my thermostat between 18 and 20° and only in the evening but still...

What operating system do you use on your main computer?

I dual boot Mint and Win10, and I find myself using Mint for everything except gaming. Helps that I'm currently doing a dev bootcamp so Linux is so much better for coding.
